Hello my dear followers! As many of you know, I was born in Colombia. In this post I want to show you something about my beloved country: food.

Currently, Colombia has evolved a lot as a country and food does not escape this reality. This restaurant is located on the hill of Monserrate, in Bogota city. This restaurant specializes in serving typical Colombian food but adapted to the gourmet style.

As an appetizer I ordered chorizo with arepa and avocado. This is very typical of Colombia. The arepas are made from grilled corn dough. Chorizo is a cured or smoked sausage made with minced pork and other ingredients. It can be consumed raw, fried, roasted or cooked. Eating chorizo with lemon juice is something quite indigenous.

As you see in the photo, I was drinking my favorite juice in the UNIVERSE wich is made from Lulo. It is a delicious citrus fruit very typical of this city. I also ordered a beer made by a Colombian factory, called Club Colombia.

As a starter, I ordered a monserrate rice. It is accompanied by chicharrón, another typical food of my country. It is made with bacon previously sprinkled with baking soda and water. Then fry in a frying pan. The rice is made with beef, pork and chicken. The yellow disks are fried bananas.

In the background of the photo, you see a dish that has an avocado salad with meat and Colombian potatoes. These potatoes are smaller and yellow, can be eaten fried or boiled.

I would love to try those never had colambian food. Great pics

I hope you can do it! Thanks :D

Looks tasty! I've had arepas in my hometown Toronto from Columbian restaurants and I love them! I've never had them in a cute mini size like yours though, looks like it would be fun (and less messy) to eat. I started following you for more posts like these!

I write about food and travel as well, check out my posts if you have time, I think you might like them. Occasionally I write Spanish posts too but it's a little harder for me because it's not my first language. :)

I prefer the small arepas, they are easier to eat hahaha! I love your profile picture :) I definitely check your blog! thanks for reading me and it will be an honor if you participate in my contest! @jellyfishdonut
