The Old Dog Checks Out: Clean Planet!
As I wrote a few days ago I'm very enthusiastic about the @cleanplanet project!
I know that it should just be common sense to clean up litter and even more so not to litter in the first place. On the other hand if the Steem blockchain and the initiative @cleanplanet can motivate us to do more why not?
Imagine if 10's of thousands of Steem users were chronicling their efforts in cleaning up trash. What about 100's of thousands? How powerful would that be?
How to Create More Incentive And Buzz
- I posted a contest 3 days ago promising 20 Steem in prizes and nice upvotes!
- I'd love to see some leaders in the Steem community post about themselves cleaning up some trash.
- I nominate @old-guy-photos and @onceuponatime to participate. Let's see if they react!
- Perhaps if they then nominate someone we can really make a dent in the litter problem!
In The Meantime I Did My First Clean Up Today!
As you can see in the photos I didn't take along a very big trash bag. I decided to clean up the area where I often go jogging but I was shocked to discover that after about just 10 minutes the bag was already almost full. Will I really need to haul around a 110 liter bag in order to be more effective?
It only took me about 10 minutes of walking around to fill up this bag! I was a bit shocked!
I didn't pick up the cigarette butts but there were plenty of those strewn everywhere!

Well buddy, here is the video. The wind was fierce, but I went ahead because we are getting more snow. If I wait for better weather, it could be June LOL.
I am going to do a weekly feature. I think a #trashThursday tag is in order to promote the project! We enjoyed making a video plus got some exercise as well as did a bit of good.

I live across from English Bay Beach. My son and I often walk low tide and pick up some plastic. We also find lots of other weird things; toys and such. My son thinks that is awesome. Another person's trash, as they say. You've inspired to get out there today:)
Great. It would be so motivating if you chronicled it. The people behind @cleanplanet reminded me that I should have held up a sign showing the date and place.

Great job! I am happy to see you being so excited about this project too :) My goal is to do at least one @cleanplanet action/post every week. I have already motivated a few other Steemians to come up with their own cleaning actions and posts and it would be really cool if we could make this thing go viral.

It is impossible to deal with the problem of waste only with the help of the organization for garbage collection. We ourselves must learn not to throw garbage and teach our children. Environmental pollution with garbage and household waste is a pressing problem for the whole world and thanks to @cleanplanet we will make the planet cleaner

Ah OK I didn't know about any rules although I did see that @phortun had a sign showing the date and time.
yes it's not of course to annoy people, but some have already tried to cheat... so as we will stay as fair as possible... we are trying to establish the right conduct for the cleanplanet reward on steem.
