Whale Watching
I went whale watching today along the coast line of the St-Lawrence river. I guess it’s technically the Gulf of St-Lawrence where the Atlantic ocean’s salt water mixes with the fresh water of the river.
My SO and I sat on some rocks and played scrabble during our stay, waiting for whales to show themselves now and then. We saw about 8 porpoises show their black backs and fins. We also saw 1 beluga whale.
Glad you are having a great time. Whales have always intimidated me (not that I have ever directly seen one). They are so huge, its a good thing they are not mean spirited or they could do a lot of damage to ships out there.
Yup, they are so friendly. They come by boats and show themselves off. Belugas can even lose their children by being distracted by humans...sad :(
I have been whale watching off of San Diego and was fortunate to come upon three whales mating, something that doesn't happen often that far north. Yeah, it was a lot of rolling around and bubbles, but meant they stayed mostly in one place and the boat could just circle them for over an hour.
A whale threesome does sound pretty intense!
Did you get good Scrabble words?
That round was a flop, we were pulling out mostly 4 letter words and were not able to move around a lot... the other games I got a "QUIRK" out in the game.
Nice
The must amazing animal there is
Sounds like a whale of a time.
Yes indeed :P
I am so happy that you are having a nice time. As a steemit whale, whale watching will be very interesting to you i guess, but i think it will be interesting to me as well because i hope to be a whale on the platform someday
I'm by no means a Steem whale hehe ;) Whales have a lot more SP than me ;)
Seeing a Beluga whale is a treat. Porpoises also.
The water is beautiful.
Yes, nice water, but very cold coming in from the ocean and in the fall :/
I'm convinced that if I swim in the ocean I will get eaten by a shark. So the temperature of the water isn't highly important. Dying of hypothermia doesn't seem to scare me.
