3 abstract ships - paintings

in #art6 years ago (edited)

As you can see, that's not my usual way of painting.
I have to tell the background story so you can understand why I made these "ships".
At an exhibition, an friend said that she likes one painting.
The painting was abstract, almost only red, and perhaps a ship.
Bad were the colors in this painting, somehow really not a good work.

A few days later, I told her, I don't understand why she liked that. She can paint that too, probably much better.
Would she hang this up at home?
She said noo, never! :) But she is afraid of ships... That one looked like a ship and that provoked and scared her.

I said, I'll make some red ships for you as a Christmas present! :)
Well, mine look more like walls :D
But I didn't want to paint real ships, neither from photos nor copy someone.

So I did this 3 and after that I had no desire for this topic anymore.
What else would be, I think, if this fear came out from me.
I think it's the most important thing for an artist to paint according to his own ideas and visions.

Fourth painting looked quite different, but I will post it tomorrow.

Actually after 2 I lost the interest on this topic, as you can see,
I leave the ship wall at third already. :)
On the photo you can see the shiny spots of oil colors stronger, but I like that! :)

I would be afraid of that ship also, if I was swimming and it came at me! This has the feel of a huge freighter hull coming at you while the captain is not paying much attention, having his tee and rum on the bridge.

I love these three, Vesna.... I think you captured the idea of ships that are very strangely very you.

They are at once VAST but also beautiful although a little daunting, ... the red is bright and confronting but also very alluring.

I love them. I can tell by the third one that your ships are morphing into something else already, an organic living influence in its shapes...

Gorgeous works <3

Thank you very much for your great comment! <3

I really like your idea of red ships. I think it is awesome that you create it without looking at photo or other art, it makes it a very unique and special painting.

Awesome gift :D.

Lol :D Yes, she deserves it :) Thanks@scrawly! :)
