The Diary Game - 27 - May -2024 | Traditions and Connections: A Day of Preparation for Eid at the Sheep Farm
Hello steemians,
The trip to the sheep farm with my father was more than just a visit, it was an immersion in our traditions and in a naturally rejuvenating setting. Nestled in the heart of a verdant mountain, the farm offered a pastoral setting that seemed frozen in time, a direct connection with the elements of nature.
Arrival at the farm
Upon arrival, we were immediately captivated by the surrounding landscape, an expanse of olive trees whose silver leaves shimmered in the summer sun. The terrain, hilly and dotted with stones and dirt, added to the rustic charm of the place. The path we took wound between the hills and offered spectacular views of larger fields, where the fertile earth mingled with the blue of the clear sky.
The old water well
One of the first points of interest was the old water well. This vestige, essential to farm life, was surrounded by old tools and agricultural equipment, testifying to generations of rural know-how. The well, half hidden by wild vegetation, told a story of survival and adaptation, crucial for watering the sheep in this dry region.
Interaction with sheep
Further on, the sheep themselves were grouped in the shade of the olive trees, finding refuge from the heat. The rustling of leaves and occasional bleating created a calming soundtrack. My father and I took our time mingling with the animals, watching them feed or rest quietly. The farmer guided us, sharing anecdotes about the habits and characters of various sheep, enriching our understanding of these creatures.
The choice of sheep for Eid
The moment of choosing the sheep was one of reverence and seriousness. My father, with the help of the farmer, examined several animals, taking into account their health and behavior, a vital aspect of the Eid tradition. Choosing a sheep for sacrifice is an act charged with spirituality and respect for the life of the animal, reflecting our commitment to ethical and respectful practices.
Moments of reflection
As we walked among the rows of olive trees, I took time to reflect on the meaning of this tradition, its importance in our culture, and what it teaches about respecting nature and the provisions that we have. she offers.
Capture of the moment
Before leaving the farm, I took a photo of myself with the sheep in the background. This image, more than a simple visual capture, symbolized the harmony between man and nature, and the continuation of traditions that strengthen family and community ties.
This day on the farm was not only a preparation for Eid, but also a day of learning and reaffirmation of the values we hold dear, enveloped in the tranquil and timeless beauty of the rural landscape.
Best Regards,
@kouba01
The sheep are very healthy and suitable to be used as sacrificial animals, I have never seen olive trees here, we only enjoy imported olive oil, and I think the old well is very beneficial for the farmers there, even though there is not much grass there, unlike in Indonesia has a humid climate,
I really applaud the herders there, even though the area is dry they can produce lots of healthy sheep, if one day I have the opportunity to go on holiday then I will choose there
You seem to have a great appreciation for agricultural practices and the resilience of pastoralists in that region. It is impressive how they manage to produce healthy animals despite the difficult conditions. Enjoying imported olive oil and considering a visit shows your keen interest in their way of life and environment. I hope you have the opportunity to visit and experience it firsthand!

To make sacrifices we are required to pay attention to the health, age of the animal and behavior which are important aspects in the Eid al-Fitr tradition. I can't believe that Eid al-Fitr is coming soon, hopefully your good intentions will be smooth and easy.
As you walked through the rows of olive trees you had time to think about the meaning of tradition, its importance in your culture and respecting nature and the provisions you have. I liked it very much. I am very glad to see your post. Best wishes and love to you.

Wow; What a day!
The visit to the grazing land on the hill side was really amazing.
And just after the Eid of Qurbani, now almost everywhere is busy to buy the animal of Qurbani.
Because it is obligatory for every capable person to sacrifice.
Anyway, the pictures your phone captures while buying sheep are pretty cool.
I can see a well in your post A well, such a place water is very scarce. So they should take care of the well and renovate the well.
Best wishes to you honorable @kouba01 sir. Keep up your good work & take love form me 💞
