AAA review: National Theatre Live: Angels in America: Part 1 - Millennium Approaches (2017)
When a film lasts for seven hours, the most patient person will be daunted. Tony Kushner evokes emotions and thoughts with his talented brushstrokes and sensitive and sharp language, turning the length into a gorgeous parade. It doesn't require more words, a Pulitzer Prize and two Tony Awards are enough to prove his position in the hearts of the audience.

"Angel in America" , which is a more than 20 year-old drama still looks vivid today. Tony Kushner presented us with a confused and chaotic life in the United States in the 1980s. The play is full of symbolic illusions, the inner sorrows and sorrows of the characters, and the escape and restraint built under the framework of myth. It focuses on the gay life of that era. It includes the images of those who are discriminated against and the image of struggling for survival under the AIDS. The author is ambitiously covering the political, economic, religious, ethnic issues of that era. The gorgeously magnificent imagination flies to the ideal side of the character. He does not let the imagination spread infinitely.

It closely matches the real fate of the characters, and is closely related to the environment in which they live. Behind the whimsy and black humor, it is well-organized. Cold spells describe the fragility and helplessness of all people facing the disease. Some expressions are surprisingly straightforward, while others are covered by awkward religious and political veil. He uses a complex language to define the world over and over again, explaining the world in different languages, hoping to reveal the simple truth. Like the drama, "The Queen will forgive the enemy she defeated." It interprets the true meaning of love, compromise, tolerance and reconciliation in complex and lengthy language, and presents an epic masterpiece.
Movie Trailer from youtube
I learned about the this movie after I saw Garfield winning the Tony Award for Best Man. After watching the first part, it took me half a month to make up my mind to see the second part. I wonder if I can concentrate on enjoying the squally rain of the language. Can I really appreciate the stage picture carefully drawn by the author? . In the end, I made up my mind to watch it and wrote this poor sense of movie review. I hope that I can convey my inner shock and joy, and I hope to share this fun with more people.
