Steampunk fetish in the Mill City!

in #photography5 years ago (edited)

Good morning, Steemit! I’m hanging at @caffetto, day two of a “regular” work week. After two weeks on the west coast, and flying home during the daylight saving time switch, I admit that I’m tired by noon. I slept restlessly last night, so extra sleepy today, but I’ve been complaining about not having time to work, so that’s what I’m going to do. I’ve been productive lately, so if I can get a few edits out of the way, I might even find time to draw. STEEM has been consistently climbing the ladder, so I think it’s time for a new Steemian vs. "The Bear".

I’ve been working on catching up on owed photography. That’s the story of my life. Remember a few blogs ago when I said “…by the time I come back from LA, I want to have every photo I still owe from 2018 finished!”?. That didn’t happen. Not even close, but I am making progress now that I am back. Last fall, I was hired by Priscilla, a return client, to photography a series of photos for upcoming events and magazine publication. We discussed shooting in historic downtown Minneapolis, and that’s exactly what we did.

I met Priscilla for this shoot at The Guthrie theater, along the river’s edge of downtown Minneapolis. Shooting at Van Drusen manor several years ago, this would be a much different mood. The Guthrie is a notoriously popular spot for senior pictures, engagements, etc. I loved the idea of shooting dark fetish in the same space. Minneapolis is a big art city, so this was our interpretation of art. Priscilla’s first look was military inspired as we shot in iconic amber observatory. From there, a few shots throughout the glass hallways.

We made our way to the Mill City Ruins. A part outside of the historic Minneapolis mills, at the base of the Stone Arch Bridge. Another space that’s overrun with wedding, engagement and “wholesome” photography. Priscilla’s steam punk wardrobe was an awesome compliment to the bent, twisted metal of the ruins. As a photographer, I had the chance to experiment with angles of the architectural remains. This is one of my favorites from the entire shoot.

Thanks for reading. There are a few more edits coming from this shoot with Priscilla. I’m on a mission. @vermillionfox thinks I should have all my 2018 photography finished by Viva Las Vegas, just three weeks away. That’s an ambitious, but achievable goal. So far, so good with staying on task. It’s amazing what one can achieve when @guthrie actually goes to school all week. I love stopping by your blog brother! There is like a 50/50 chance I may get a hard on! lol kidding. But another great model and another great shoot.

I know what you mean about finding time for work. I've set my life up so I don't really have to work much. This past week it's been partying and meeting girls here in Bali. But I feel like I've fallen behind on my blog, so I'm putting in a good six hour work day which is a lot for me. Even passing up spending time with my new hot Bali girl.

Have you ever been to Bali, I best you would takes some kick ass photos while here. Such a picturesque place to be. I'm going to go around one day soon and do some of my amateur real life captured shots. Then make bunch of videos as I do.

Anyway. Wishing you the very best and just wanted to drop by and say hello! Have a great day! -Dan
