How to calculate how much voting $ I can spend
I am looking to figure out how to calculate what it means in SBD or $ when I have 100% of voting power and want to spend so much that the power will be X%.
Example:
Take an account with 100k SP.
At 100% the voting value will be around $7, at 50% it would be about $3.5
If I vote until the voting is at 50% how much money do we have to give in SBD overall.
Is there an elegant way to calculate this?

Not sure if I understood correctly, but you can use steemnow calc, it allows you to set voting power and voting weight and shows you vote value in $.

Also if u hate it why do you use it? You do not need to use it or get it. You can select to just get SP instead.
I prefer the liquid Steem and SP combo, unless SBD go back to Dec 2017 prices, in which case I m wrong and they are great
I kind of agree fictional $ rewards, steem, sbd, vests, steem power, dust limits, ... there is too much stuff for an average user. Just pay all rewards in steem.
They let you take it all in SP but not in just Steem/SP. I hate SBD i exchange all of them as soon as i get them, the last month or two with no sbd was great. Also they were never able to peg them at 1 dollar so what is the point?
More quick and user friendly solution would be to install @steem-plus extension in your browser, so before every time you upvote you can have an estimate worth of your vote

Not sure if I understand your question correctly, but here are some numbers based on my understanding.
From your example. You will lose .14 after each 100% vote that you cast. So in total you will cast 136.5$ worth of votes to get from 100% to 50%. Calculation are not exact but pretty close I believe. Based on current steem and sbd price and considering 25% curation, you will make 51.1875 SBD and 61.67 STEEM (equivalent to 52.23 SBD ) . This means it should be equal to 103.149 SBD.

you lose 2% VP everytime you vote at 100%, that reduces value of your vote. It takes 2.4 hrs to recover 2% VP so you can cast 10 votes at 100% everyday without ever running out.

Your vote value reduces by 2%, but at 50% votevalue a reduction of 2% is effectively 1% i.e. to 49%

I don't know the elegant way to do it, but I looked up the vote value of an account with 100k SP and started with the vote value of $7.17. Here's what I got as a result.
