Quick Notes:
Topic: How to Keep A Tidy Mind
Lately, I was overwhelmed with different tasks and new information that need to be digest for execution decision. Before that, I’m more casual in taking notes and setting to do task. Now I am more aware on how important is to release my brain from having need to remember everything and put it on paper or notes in my gadgets.
So here I read about the tips to achieve this by Ryder Caroll in his Ted sharing.
Build a task list (already done) and prioritize my tasks into urgent + important, urgent + not important and not urgent + important, also stuff that I think I wanna do in future like my business idea.
Justify the reasons behind the tasks, especially on not urgent + important tasks. Most of the time, we are packed with urgent but not necessary important tasks which some of them are just because of my role in the company or just to help out. If we used up all the time on these tasks, then we will left with nothing for our important tasks which is valuable and critical for our growth. I would take learning, exercising, invest in business, accompany loved ones as part of the not urgent but important tasks that should be done in day to day basis. Slowly, will improve the ratio to at least 50/50 when I hit certain level of financial freedom.
Reassess the tasks listed whether it is important to me and it is important to the one I loved. This is to narrow down and maintain focus on the tasks that are important. I would say, most of the time when things get crazy and a lot of deadlines fall at the same time, I will be lost and not able to be so rational. Thus, it is important for me to prioritize which one to go and which to delegate.
Again, categorize those tasks that are left on the list by the complexity. We can settle those simple ones like paying bills, sending out instructions, making notes and memos, etc within a time frame. Then, for the more complex tasks Iike I wanna conduct an art class with @enjiliew. I can segment this big task into smaller ones like make a page, make demo art with @enjiliew, documentation of the art, booking of venue, setting up event, reaching out potential customers, buy art accessories, etc.
Spend at least five minutes everyday to review the tasks list. I totally agree in this and have to be discipline as well. I would set this at around 11pm where most of my stuff are settle and I’m at home ready to rest and prepare for the next day hustle. If I find any task no longer relevant, then I could just cancel off the task.
Hope this tips can make the tasks list making process a lot more easier and solid. Personally, I really want to change myself into a more productive person by 2019 and keep it that way. Changing habit is the key for me for this year and this is one of them.
This is a learning notes series of mine for subscribing to Dedao App, which is a learning App available on iOS and Android. If you are able to understand Chinese and an avid learner, this app is definitely a thing for you! I was using this app since it was launched and I had greatly benefited by following the courses offered. This year, I would like to improve myself by increasing my output which is through doing study notes. I will be perfecting the notes day by day and my resolution is to make 365 notes this year every day (if missed like today, I will be putting up for the missed days).
