The Long Queue At The Bank: October 7 2019

Thanks for checking up on my post, here is my Actifit report detailing my activities for today.

After feeding the rabbits and doing some cleanup work at the farm I decided that I’ll take today to go get my statement of account at the bank and boy what a wrong decision I took. I forgot that today was a Monday and that it is usually the busiest day at the bank.

Why I needed to go to the bank

I discovered some months back that I have started running out of proof of residence. Yes, a bill that shows that I live where I say I live. I discovered that the more I automated payment of my bills using online banking the more I don’t have paper proof of residence. I moved from manual electricity billing to prepaid metering which enables you to pay for electricity tariff using bank transfers. This is really cool because you don’t need to see anybody to pay your electricity bills.

I sank my own borehole so I don’t have water bills. I pay land use charge but it is once a year and once the people that need your proof of residence to be 3 months you then have a problem using it. The next option is your bank statement and to get the one that has the bank stamp and signature I needed to go to the bank. The one you get online I don’t think has signatures or stamp.

My driving license has my address on it but that is used as my means of identification and these only platforms don’t accept it as both means of identification and proof of residence.

There are two new international crypto-currency exchanges that need it to complete my verification process so off I went some minutes to 12 noon. I was in the queue standing for more than 3 hours, at some point my phone battery went dead.

Monday is not just the best day to go to the bank especially if you want to see the customer care people. Someone thought it wise not to have chairs at the bank because they feel they are so efficient you only need to pop in and out of the bank. Ha! If there was a bed in the bank today I would have slept on it and asked them to wake me when it was my turn. Lol.

Anyways, I got what I went for and hopefully they won’t be seeing me for a very long time because I’m sticking to online banking, POS and ATM services.

I saw a brother off in the evening and took the opportunity to hit the 5k count. That is it forks. Do have a great day.
