米国で25年物の三菱自動車工業「Mitsubishi 3000GT」を運転中の男性が前方の車を追い越す際に、コントロールを失い事故を起こし重傷を負った事故で、男性の妻はその原因が車両の拘束システムの欠陥にあるとして三菱自動車と米国子会社Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc.（MMNA）を相手取り損害賠償を求める訴訟を提起していたが、米国ペンシルベニア州フィラデルフィア一般訴訟裁判所は6日、MMNAに10億1000万ドル（日本円で約1515億円）の損害賠償の支払いを命じる判決を出したそうなのですが個人的にはこの裁判はおかしいようにも感じます。昔の車種だったら普通は劣化していたり米国の人は自分でメンテナンスをしている人が多いのできちんとメンテナンスをしていなくてコントロールが失った可能性もありえます。しかし25年も経っているんだったらもう寿命もきていると思います。
