Geological preserve in Poland
In ancient times, it was a place of dark pagan rituals and unholy magic.
Later, quarries were established for extracting stone. The last quarry closed as recently as 1960s.
Today it is a natural, geological preserve, called Kadzielnia. One can marvel at the precambrian rocks of the preserve, just a 5 minut walk from the downtown of Kielce.
In 1971 an amphitheatre was built among the rocks, resulting in a place with great acoustics for great performances.
A famous statue of national and social emancipation adorns the peak.
It's just horrendous...
There's a lake surrounding the rocks, called Emerald Lake...
Also, a monument to the memory of the Katyń massacre of Polish officers in Soviet Russia in 1940.
Come visit.
