Hacks To Improve Your Cooking

in #life8 years ago

Many of us LOVE TO EAT, But don't have the slightest idea about cooking. It's too funny!

Many millennials eat nothing but take-out food, And food from restaurants! Most of the people I know in their early twenties don't have the slightest idea on how to cook raw meat, Like chicken. (I'm not one of these) I can cook reasonably well.

Learning to cook is important, but it can prove complicated and annoying! Especially for those clueless ones who have only learned how to boil water.

Here are simple hacks that can help improve your cooking skills.

Ensure your hands are wet before removing stray egg shells:

Whether you are putting together a healthy egg salad or an omelet, eggs are important cooking ingredients. Stray egg shells can affect the taste of a meal if they make their way into the scrambling bowl. To avoid the nastiness of having to pick them from the bowl due to their gooeyness and sliminess, wet your hands before cracking the eggs. Stray pieces of the egg shells will be attracted by your wet hands, ensuring that the mixture is free of shells.

Use Those Greens

Freshly chopped or ground green vegetables such as spinach add a splash of color to your dead beat chutney or pale looking mushroom. In addition, they can be used to spruce up the texture and taste of soups, sauces, and smoothies. They will add more nutritional value too!

Don't let your avocados/bananas spoil!

These two fruits can work wonders on the flavor of cookies and muffins. And who doesn't love a fruity product anyway?
Bananas develop a brown hue when stored, and so do avocados.
Storing bananas with the stems wrapped in polythene (Plastic wrap)
and half-cut avocados in airtight containers with freshly cut onions can help solve the browning problem for both fruits. You can also use lemon/lime juice on the avocado!

Limes

Chicken is one of the most loved meats in the world!

It can end up being dry, leathery, or tough if it's tenderized before cooking.
Inserting a lime wedge in the cavity prior to roasting a whole chicken can help steam the meat from the inside out, thus making it more succulent. It will also add a nice background flavor! Yummy!

Flipping Food

Being able to flip your food like omelets, pancakes And Tortillas requires practice!
Before you can successfully do this, you should ensure that all the contents in the pan have cooked on the underside thoroughly. The food should be able to slide effortlessly into the pan if the underside is cooked. Push the food to the edge of the pan, And use your spatula to flip it effortlessly. Ensure that there's little or no oil as it can easily burn you. I've destroyed so many Omelets messing this up! So don't feel bad if you mess up a lot of food before you get it right!

There are millions of ways you can improve your cooking! But like everything in life, It requires a ton of practice! Keep trying! You'll get it. Don't be like everyone else who can't cook! Be a cook and be good at it! Cooking is an art! Look into Gordon Ramsays stuff if you haven't seen him already! Holy cow he's amazing!

Good advice for anyone, I can cook but always want to learn more

I should do more complicated tips then :)

Definitely, doesn't matter how good we think we are there's always room to improve plus you may have a tip others don't know about.

I'll have to try the lime in the chicken. That's a new one for me. I use a brine mixture on all my chicken. Makes it very moist.

It helps! I love brining too :)

Yum. I'm hungry now :)

ehehe Me too XD

This alone was worth the price of a 100% upvote :)

Thanks @kaylinart!

Thank you ;)
I used to always have that problem!! But I noticed one day when I had wet hands it didn't happen!

I learned from my grandmother that it works to "Just start with an onion". That works for a lot of great meals! Happy cooking!

Wow! That is brilliant. I'll have use onions more! They work with almost anything.
