Let's Play! an oil painting
This painting is about two little Indian girls, one feeling mischievous, the other innocent and unsuspecting. We don't know what the one in red was planning, but we can let our imaginations enjoy exploring the possibilities.
The drapery in the background was inspired by this painting by Ingres: Jesus Returning the Keys to St. Peter - 1820

Thank you for posting this lovely painting @kathleenscarboro.
The expressions on the girls faces as well as the detail are captivating...well done.
Appreciate hearing Ingres is an inspiration......the Louvre has a fine collection of his work.......his work there is on a very large scale.
Wishing you a lovely weekend. ^__^
A bientot.
Thank you @bentleycapital; yes the Louvre has quite a few works and I was lucky years ago to visit the museum dedicated to his work in Montauban.

Magnifique comme toujours !! ^_^
Merci mille fois, @barbara-orenya!
Absolutely stunning work! The drapery is excellent. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you @viking-adventures, and we can thank Ingres for the drapery.
This is really stunning artwork ... so detailed, such bright colors, and so realistic. I wish I had just a tiny bit of your talent.
Thank you @hetty-rowan, so glad you like it.
Another beautiful work from you, Kathleen. I love the poses of both of these girls, and the expressions on their faces. The colours are also magnificient, as always.
Did you work from a blue undertone for the skin on this painting? I couldn't see any bluish hue on this one.

Thank you @scrawly. Yes I did the Prussian blue underpainting. As I glazed the warm tones over the blue, it neutralized the blue somewhat. But it is there.
Wauw absolutely Amazing!
