#303/365, Art exhibition at the Emporium Art Gallery in Bangkok, การแสดงงานศิลป์ที่เอ็มโพเรียมในกรุงเทพฯ, the OPED project.

Sunday was a very slow day of relaxation and doing as I pleased. The energy always kicked in later in the afternoon and then urge to move about could not be denied.

The rain has just stopped so I ventured out to the high-end shopping centers by taking the sky train. Being a holiday I thought the trains would be empty but the opposite happened, we were like packed sardines in a small can. I had to hold my breath many times as the smell inside the train was just to much. I forgot what it was like traveling in sky trains during peak hours. That's why I preferred to travel by the local mini bus and by boat on the river.

However, the rain started to drizzle lightly by the time I got to the posh shopping center in central Bangkok. My favourite is the Emporium as it has a very good supermarket and a food court with high quality food in big portion at unbelievably reasonable prices. I did not forget to take some photos of the sky train and the surrounding high rises. We only had two hours of sunshine and the dark clouds started to creep in.

To my delight, there is a special exhibition of paintings done by artists while traveling in Bhutan. This art exhibition is in the foyer or gallery area of the Emporium Shopping Center. The purpose of this is to commenmorate the King Rama 10th's birthday (on 28th July) and to promote the relations between Thai Theravada Buddhism and Vajrayana Buddhism. This has been organised by a well known monk, (W. Wachiramethee), who would like to find partnership and sponsor for the building of a Buddhist meditation center in the north of Thailand.

I have not been to a proper art gallery for ages! I always missed the weekends I spent at the Tate Gallery, the National Gallery in London and the British Museum. Museums are not as popular as shopping centers and they couldn't make any money. So, there has not been any serious investment in building properly maintained museums here. Most museums do not have adequate fundings and it is very difficult to find well educated museum managers, museum curators and conservationists of art objects. Most of the important pieces of art objects and antiques had been plundered and exported to internatinal buyers a long time ago! Most Asian countries suffered from the same plight of having their national treasures being plundered during the colonisation period.

Bhutan is a very mysterious place for me. People there still wear their tradtional costumes and they are very religious and practising Buddhists. I hope I would have a chance to spend sometime there, absorbing the wonderful energy from the mountains and earth. Meanwhile I have to be contented with looking at these beautiful paintings of scenery from Bhutan.

วันอาทิตย์เป็นวันที่ได้พักผ่อนและทำชีวิตให้ช้าลง อากาศก็เป็นใจอย่างมากเพราะฝนตกและไม่มีแดดเกือบทั้งวัน พอตกบ่ายพลังงานที่สะสมไว้ก็พยายามหาทางใช้ เราจึงตัดสินใจเดินทางเข้าเมืองด้วยรถไฟฟ้าบืทืเอส เราคิดว่าคนคงไม่มากเพราะเป็นวันหยุด แต่ผิดคาด รถไฟมีคนแน่นเหมือนปลากระป๋อง เราต้องกลั้นหายใจแทบแย่ เพราะกลิ่นของคนจำนวนมากทำให้เกือบมึนตึบ การกินอาหารมังสวิรัติทำให้เราไวต่อกลิ่นมาก โดยเฉพาะถ้าใครกินเนื้อวัวมา จะบอกได้เลยว่าคนนั้นพึ่งไปกินมา กลิ่นสาบของเนื้อสัตว์มาอยู่ในร่างกายคนนั่นเอง เราจึงชอบเดินทางโดยรถเมล์เล็กที่ไม่ติดแอร์และ ทางเรือทำให้หายใจสะดวกปลอดมลพิษด้านกลิ่น

เราไปที่เอ็มโพเรียมเพื่อเดินเล่น ที่นี่มีซุปเปอร์ที่มีของเกือบทุกอย่าง และการจัดวางสินค้าทำให้ไม่ต้องเสียเวลาหานาน นอกจากนี้ย้งมีสวนอาหารระดับกลางๆที่มีอาหารดีๆให้เลือกมากมายหลายเชื้อชาติ ในราคาที่เหมาะสมรับได้ไม่เวอร์

เราดีใจมากที่เขามีการจัดนิทรรศการภาพวาด โดยศิลปินที่ไปวาดมาจากประเทศภูฏาน งานนี้จ้ดโดย ท่าน ว. วัชิรเมธี งานชื่อ "ภูฏาน วิมานบนหลังคาโลก" เนื่องในโอกาสวันเแลิมพระชนมพรรษา และ เป็นการเชื่อมความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างพุทธเถรวาทกับวัชรยาน และยังเป็นการหาทุนในการสร้างหอพักผู้ปฎิบัติธรรม ของศูนย์วิปัสสนาสากลไร่เชิญตะวัน เราใช้เวลาดูภาพและถ่ายรูปอยู่นาน ภาพส่วนใหญ่ทำให้ดูแล้วสบายใจ แต่มีภาพปริศนาธรรมหรือเปล่าก็ไม่รู้หลุดมาภาพหนึ่ง เหมือนหลุดมาจากหนังฝรั่งแนวสยองขวัญ ก็ลองดูกันเองว่าจะตีความหมายอย่างไรดี
