Witness Node Missing Blocks More Frequently
On average, every 2 days - my witness node misses a block. In June 18 blocks are missed and in July 15 blocks. However, I've noticed increasing frequency this month being on average 1 day 1 block.
The top witnesses (20) produce a block every minute or so - thus the chance to miss a block is higher compared to the backup witnesses.
A block may be missed if your network latency is high, clock being inaccurate, some network problems in your upstream provider, or just your server has a bit flipped.
Unfortunately, this isn't easy to invesitigate - a block missing every now or then could be due to different reasons - and unless it starts to miss a few consective blocks (in which case we can detect this and switch to a backup node), there isn't much we can do.
In general, the more you pay for the server, higher quality of server you can get and less likely it will go wrong (miss blocks). You can visit VPS Database to find good VPS deals.
