Tango Moments - Portraitphotography
With my camera and a buddy I walked through Frankfurt half of the night shooting pictures. It was after three in the morning on a Saturday. While crossing a park we noticed a big house with open doors, lights, old sounding music and tons of people dancing slow tango. We didn't have to sneak in because I asked if we could enjoy the scenery and they granted us permission. I found out it was a annual tango marathon event that lasted the whole weekend. I have never seen such gracious devotion to the act of dancing before. It was a whole room of dancers being completely caught up in the moment for hours. Living every step and movement while holding their partners with such a impression of purpose and commitment like nothing else mattered - you could see it in their expressions. Only that moment, that next step and dance stretched out into hours and hours of seemingly slow motioned tango that felt like a big thank you to life. We watched it for two hours and went home with many pictures but due to my lens's aperture not many pictures came out very good and I didn't want to spoil the mood with flashes. Still, watching the people's faces being high on their passion was magical.
