Benefits Derived By Showing Interest In Agriculture In My Country

Agriculture is not just beneficial in feeding a nation but also serves as a means of generating revenue for the country. Simply put, Agriculture is the practice of farming, which includes cultivation of the soil for the growing of crops and the rearing of animals to provide food, wool, and other products. However, it is sad that in my country, Nigeria solely depends majorily on crude oil and other resources that can enrich us. Agriculture plays a crucial role in an economy. There are alot of benefits that can be derived if Nigeria decides to show interest in agriculture.

Firstly, Agriculture will reduce the over dependence on crude oil and generate revenue for the government through export and at the same time wipe hunger from the land. Moreover, it will not only feed Nigerian's teaming population, but also provide employment opportunities, thereby reducing the rate of unemployment and criminality in the society. It is because of lack of job opportunities that make people engage in crimes.

When there is enough food, importation of certain foods items would be reduced. This will also help to bring down the prices of food stuffs. In addition, Agriculture is a source of raw materials for industries. Raw materials that includes; cotton, sugar, tobacco, etc. It will also lead to infrastructural development. This means, our roads would be worked on and put in good condition because farmers need good roads to transport their goods to the market. Showing interest on agriculture will lead to excess capital for the government. There will be need for borrowing.

In conclusion, When there is interest in agriculture, It will also reduce the inequality that exists between the rich and the poor in terms of income. the government will also benefit a lot if it shows its interest in agriculture and everything that has to do it farming.
