One of the best foods in Cebu City, Philippines - "Larang and Tinulang Isda"

Hey Steemians! This day i want to share to you i want to share to you one of the best foods here in Cebu City, Philippines, "Larang and Tinuwang Isda".

What is Larang?

Larang is an old Filipino recipe, however not everyone knows of it. Parrot fish or "molmol" is the perfect fish for the recipe here in the Philippines, although you may use some fish like tuna or even salmon. Tausi simply means fermented black beans. In the Philippines, it always comes with its own sauce/water.

This is the "Larang".

Recipe for Larang:

• 2 teaspoon of olive oil (or any cooking oil).
• 2 slices (about ¼ lb each) parrot fish.
• seasoned salt to taste.
• 7 garlic cloves, crushed.
• 1 cup coconut milk (used fresh).
• ½ cup red onion, sliced.
• ¼ cup diced tomato.
• 2 teaspoon salted black beans, undrained

How to cook Larang?

Here some procedures how to cook larang:

Step 1 - Sauté ginger, tomato and lemon grass in 1 tbs of oil.

Step 2 - Add 1 liter of water and let it boil.

Step 3 - Once the water is boiling add spring onions, the pagi and the fish raw. Let it boil for another 3 minutes.

Step 4 - Add salt and pepper to taste.

Step 5 - Serve.

And what is Tinulang Isda?

Tinulang Isda It is a simple dish that can be enjoyed during dinner with the entire family. And it is a Fish in Ginger Broth is a type of Filipino clear soup dish wherein fish such as Tuna is cooked in a broth composed of ginger, lemongrass and other vegetables.

This is the Tinulang Isda.

Recipe for Tinulang ng isda:

• 2 fish, preferably swordfish or tuna
• 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
• 1 large onion
• 2 tomatoes
• 1 clove garlic
• 1 root ginger
• 2 straws of tanglad (lemon grass)
• 1 chayote, or vegetable pear
• 1 cup malunggay (Moringa oleifera vegetable tree)
• 3 cups water
• Patis (Filipino fish sauce), salt and pepper to taste

How to cook Tinulang isda?

And here some procedures how to cook the tinulang isda:

Step 1 - In a boil water and put in the lemon grass, ginger, onion, and the white part of the spring onion. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Step 2 - Add the fish, tomato, salt, pepper and umami seasoning. Simmer for 5 minutes then take the lemon grass out. Continue to simmer for 5 more minutes.

Step 3 - Add the spring onion and malunggay then turn off heat. Let the remaining heat of the water cook the malunggay.

Step 4 - Add some seasoning but it's optional.

Step 5 - Ready to serve.
