My Journey In One of Steem Blockchain’s Promising Platform – Steemhunt

Although I’ve heard Steemhunt thru tag #utopian-io for which I always spend time upvoting posts from categories like Development, Tutorials and Graphics; and that time I always see development updates or bug hunting contributions for Steemhunt (and to be honest that time I don’t know how this platform works); it was when @steemhunt made an official announcement that they will be launching its own Smart Media Tokens (SMT) which they called as “Hunt Tokens”. And after that announcement, I then understood the aim of the platform, wherein it incentivizes hunters (Steemit users) who promote cool, innovative and great products which can either by an application (utility or gaming applications) in a smartphone, software, device, hardware and any sort of product of engineering work. Not only that incentivizes hunter who hunt products, the platform also rewards hunters who provide meaningful review comments which further elevates the effectiveness of that certain product that is being promoted/hunted.

Actually, it was @chuuuckie who started hunting products for which his hunts were listed and as for me it took me around 3 to 4 days to start my hunting activities. I started first by doing reviews and before I made my first hunt contributions, I sit down and think of what certain product should I promote and thankfully, I decided to promote softwares or projects that are open source, I got that idea when I noticed there are applications for smartphones that got approved and as for me, the challenge was to look for applications that are open source and at the same time runs in an iOS device since I don’t have an Android device. Thankfully, I managed to have my first approved hunt in Steemhunt and that is an open source application known as “Gulps”, that application was installed a month earlier before I started contributing to Steemhunt, what I like with this application is it helps the user especially those who are health conscious since they can set their daily water consumption and the application provides options wherein it will remind the user to drink water be it every hour or depending on the user’s preference, the good thing also is that it keeps track of the progress of your daily water consumption.

Additionally, @mindblast and I have worked on the localization of the flowchart into my national language, Filipino; that flowchart was made by @dayleeo to give a simplified approach for the Posting Guidelines of Steemhunt. Together with @mindblast, we are so thankful that we are being acknowledge in @dayleeo’s post.

After my first verified hunt, I have made successful hunts all of them are open source software or applications. So before I proceed on making posts of my top picks of hunt, allow me to share my best hunts so far.

FreeCAD

For me this is my best hunt so far, powerful 3D CAD softwares that are proprietary such as Siemens NX and CATIA are too expensive that anyone can have. I tried downloading other 3D CAD softwares before such as the Autodesk Inventor but compared to FreeCAD, FreeCAD is way more powerful. This software is free and open source software (FOSS) meaning it is completely free to download and its source codes are readily available for public. As a mechanical design engineer by profession, I find this 3D CAD software very helpful and to be honest, I’ve been practicing for this 3D CAD software for quite some time; this software needs thorough knowledge in doing constraints since on my experience I did used Siemens NX software which is a great CAD software. Additionally, this software is very useful for do-it-yourself (DIY) enthusiasts especially in the field of 3D printing. To top it all, this three dimensional CAD software can work on par to the performance of well-known softwares such as Siemens NX and CATIA. OWASP Zed Attack Proxy

In this current setting, we only seldom or close to nothing that softwares that are intended for security are offered as free, but it was when I become an moderator in Utopian-io that I got to know about OWASP Zed Attack Proxy; it was a translation effort/contribution of @robin-ho that I discovered that this software/application would function as security scanner for your web. Kolibri

I got to know this remarkable initiative of Learning Equality when I was a translations category contributor in @utopian-io. And I decided to make this is the offline application known as Kolibri as my hunt, since it is very impactful to the humanity. We know there are still people that have less access to education, in this offline application that empowers people with thru its lessons, this is a must have application that every humanitarian organization that works in promoting education. Additionally, this offline application is free and open source software (FOSS) project. Imagine teaching kids in war-torn areas, despite the stress they have gotten after surviving those disastrous conflicts; volunteers would be able to give a smile on their face. Lastly, this application is great for those who would want to learn educational stuffs at home. Well, this sums up my current journey in Steemhunt, right now I'm still working on hunting open-source applications/projects and will definitely post once I've tested the application.
