War has never been good to either the winner or the loser, as it brings disruption and suffering to our everyday lives, especially civilians, children, etc. Wars affect the lives of ordinary people including children in the following ways:

• Loss of life and injury: shooting, bombing, and other violence during wars often maim or kill innocent people.

• Displacement: It displaces families as people would be forced to flee their homes for safety, becoming internally displaced persons or refugees in another country.

• Poverty and Hunger: Food becomes so expensive and scarce that basic services collapse, and jobs are lost, which causes poverty.

• Psychological trauma: There is usually constant fear, loss of loved ones, and witnessing violence, which can cause long-term mental and emotional damage in children.

• Breakdown to healthcare: There is usually no access to medicine and doctors during wars, which leads to the spread of diseases and death that can be prevented.

The historical war that had a major impact on the world, which I was taught about in school and heard so much about, is the World War II, which happened from 1939 to 1945**.

• During the war, close to 70 million deaths, mostly civilians, were recorded.

• There were the atomic bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima

• Global peace was promoted by the rise of the United Nations.

Indeed, it was a terrible war that reshaped global alliances, international politics, human rights awareness, and technology, and it is the reason why countries are preventing war III.

How can we keep ourselves safe during the wars?

Hmmmm, it is very difficult for someone to keep his or herself safe during the wars, but here are my tips:

• Listen to the government warning and news to know when to evacuate or seek shelter.

• Find a safer place, which can be a safe room, an underground bunker, or a country or state that is at war.

• Store food, medicine, water, and your important documents for emergency use.

• Leave the conflict zones, if possible, for a safer and peaceful place.

• Stay connected with aid agencies, friends, families, relatives,s, and neighbours for mutual support.

How can we stop wars and promote peace among the nations?

We can stop wars and promote peace among the nations through the following ways:

• Through dialogue and diplomacy to allow countries to talk about their issues rather than resorting to war.

• Through education for peace by teaching young people about the importance of tolerance, empathy, help, and conflict resolution.

• Through support for international organisations

• Through economic cooperation, such as trade and shared prosperity.
