The memoir of a man with a broken back. (101)

in #steemit6 years ago

Newbie to the steemit community. I find it a relief to come here and read others meaningful posts, I've been able find much value in many different post by all the members of this community. So first and foremost thank you Steemit, Steemians, and THANK YOU for this wonderful social media platform / ecosystem.

Recently I had a life altering, catastrophic accident where I broke my back, it's one of the reasons I was able to discover steemit as well as other blockchain technologies. I'm forever grateful and thankful that I went through this life changing event.

Here is an x-ray of the result of my accident.

CATSCAN2.jpg

The red circle represents an area in my back where if the two white bones or whatever they maybe touch, there are several catastrophic outcomes to my accident. I will share 3 probable outcomes to my accident, fortunately none of these apply to my current state.

  1. My, mind and body end up in a long term disorder of consciousness or what some refer to as a Persistent vegetative state (PVS)

  2. My body comes home in a coffin to my two sons, as well as my Mother, Father and the rest of my family and friends.

  3. The bones in my back, pierce my spinal cord and put my body in a state of paralysis. Causing the lifelong inability to walk on my own two feet and having to use a wheel chair for the rest of my life.

If you are wondering how this happened below is a video that should help give a better understanding of the accident. It is not gruesome, there is no blood, no inappropriate footage so feel free to check it out.

This by no means is a poor me story, I'm sharing this with the community so individuals are able to see OPPORTUNITY even in the most trying and difficult circumstances.

I'm the individual at the top of the cliff wearing the black vest. To me the video represents most of the decisions I've made in my life not only personally but also professionally. I'll discuss these other life experiences in future postings.

Although I'm in constant pain, and I forced myself to step down from the managerial position I held as a sales leader where my earning exceeded north of $250,000 per year I couldn't feel more blessed for the changes that have been forced upon me as a result of my accident.

It feels as if I've spent more time with my two little boys then I ever have in the past. I know there are more then enough opportunities out there to earn a great living while also being able to spend as much time with my two children as possible and I'm in the early stages of figuring all this out.

Just remember, to always look for the good in situations, train yourself to look at life through different paradigms, one's fate isn't solely hinged on financial gain or even instant financial gratification. When an individual reaches a point where all his thoughts, actions, and behavior traits are truly selfless then one has reached a mental and spiritual pinnacle in life that very few ever have the chance to realize.

It's so beautiful to have you here on steemit. I took time to come welcome you and I know you will love it here. Welcome to our family. @greatness96

So far so good, I've been enjoying it for a few months now. Recently decided to start contributing.

I'm @edosweet. I'm here to welcome you specially to this platform. I'm really glad you are here and hope to see you become a great steemian. Good luck to you!

Thank you very much for the welcome, I'll politely accept you wishing me good luck! However I do believe one makes his own luck, and normally I'm not as receptive to someone wishing me luck as I was in the previous sentence!!!

If you want my personal view on luck, here it goes. Luck is for losers, it's for the dreamers who have never been willing to put in the blood sweat and tears it takes to reach extraordinary levels of success. To each there own, but most people confuse luck with hard work.

look at life through different paradigms

@haejin A trained mind is a great mind, Thank you for the mentorship it's greatly appreciated. The pressure of adversity does not affect the mind of the brave man... It is more powerful than external circumstances.
