RE: CENSORSHIP Wins This Round As YouTube Now Deems Conspiracy Videos “BORDERLINE CONTENT”

in #dtube5 years ago

I feel like platforms like Steemit, Dtube and the others are not the solution to censorship as advertised.

Sure, steemit wont restrict or shadowban your content, but say you made a video calling out the DNC or CNN or whatever- what's to stop them from creating a whale account on Steemit and downvote crushing your account into obscurity.

All it would take is a partnership from the major MSM or tech companies where they all pool together a bunch of money which and load it onto a single account, and then they can suppress you just as effectively on steemit as on youtube.

Am I wrong ?

Also, remember that Steemit DOES censor, restrict, and shadowban people and content. They do it less than the mainstream sites, but they do it all the time. It's just more subtle. For example, there's a reason you've never seen certain off-limits xxxx content here. And why you can only see people like @thedarkoverlord through Busy and other frontends.
So, Steemit probably isn't going to be the solution to mainstream censorship. They aren't right now, and they're moving away from that direction all the time.
