Common Scorpion Fly
Panorpa communis
Gemeine Skorpionsfliege
It starts today with the Common Scorpion Fly (Panorpa communis), a female specimen that lacks the genital segment at the end of the abdomen, which looks like the sting of a scorpion (see Wikipedia link after the photos). | Den Anfang macht heute die Gemeine Skorpionsfliege, undzwar ein weibliches Exemplar, bei welchem das Genitalsegment am Ende des Hinterleibes fehlt, das wie der Stachel eines Skorpions ausschaut (siehe Wikipedia - Link nach den Fotos). |

Thank you very much @tijntje, I somehow like to shoot macros more than landscapes at the moment - it's just a bit more fun to search the insects and then to try to get sharp photos :)

This fly is quite common here, but I must admit, that I have not known it's name, and I did not know, how it really looked like, before I photographed it with the macro lens 😎

From what your getting it’s a great lens I hope this weekend to get out with my macro lens the forecast is still looking good for the weekend
Our weather seems to get bad this weekend, we'll see, but this is the reason, why I want to go to Slovenia tomorrow morning. Maybe I can shoot a sunrise in the mountains and a waterfall in the Soca valley :)

I used to be scared of scorpion flies but it turns out they don't sting. This one looks pretty exotic to me, the ones around here are all tan with clear wings.

I must admit, that I have never really looked at them before I began with macro photography.
Maybe your scorpion flies are relatives, because ours all look like this one.
