I found several stories about the origin of the German name "Vergissmeinnicht" (Forget me not), and this is one of them:
The popular name comes probably from a German saga from the Middle Ages, according to which the small plant asked God not to forget them, and the saga was translated into numerous other languages again, as Forget-me-not in English or as Ne m'oubliez pas in French (source: Wikipedia

There are about 50 species of the Forget-me-not / Myosotis flower genus worldwide, and this one here may be either Myosotis scorpioides or Myosotis alpestris. By the way, Myosotis is Greek and means "mouse ear".

Nice one!

Thank you Ross, I do like the Forget-me-not flower very much, especially I like these light blue and yellow color combination :)

I appreciate little things more and more : )

Me too, but I must admit, that I really have to go and look for the little things, because I need reading glasses. Otherwise I would not see smaller flowers or insects ;)

They are such a beautiful flower and I never knew the origin of the name thanks so much for sharing this

This one of the few flowers, of which I have always known the name, but I also didn't know the stories behind the name. Thank you for your nice comment JJ :)

They are such a delightful flower, they are so beautiful, Have a great day

Admittedly, I did one that included a forget-me-not on Friday I think. There is something so delicate and true about this beautiful shot you got.

I could never forget her!

What a nice comment, thank you so much Denise 😊

I must admit, that I didn't want to post this photo at first, because after editing it, I thought it was not good enough. So, I left it for a few days, because when I don't look at a photo for a while, I see it somehow different when I open it again, and many times I like it then :)

I have seen your post, of course. Your flowers look very nice and a bit different from mine, but there are many different kinds of the Forget-me-not ;)

There really are! Over a hundred I hear!

... but most look somehow the quite same, as far as I could see, when I clicked through the Wikipedia links :)
The Forget-me-not is one of the few flowers, apart from Roses and Tulips, which I know by name since I was a little boy ;)

:)

My mother was a flower person, so when I was young she would always call them by the flower name. They were like part of the family. :)

I always forget the time difference. I am already at work and it must be about midnight for you ;)

My mother is quite the same. She knows most of the common flowers which grow where we live, and of course she knows the flowers she has seed herself around the house and in the garden.

Lovely tiny towers! Love to have these in my garden!!
