How do you know it is Plagiarism?
Stealing is bad but how do you know when something is stolen or not?
How do you know when something is plagiarism and plagiarized?
I do not like it when people steal and do bad things. But we get into a habit of downvoting and flagging and banning too much and too often like when people banned white professors and teachers at colleges. I am not supporting theft. I do not like theft. But people are often running around too much like whales trying to make money by stealing from others what they say others stole in the first place. We are getting into a world of grey or gray where everything is relative and there are no absolute truth in definitions concerning morality and definitions for determining between right and wrong applied when and to whom and how and where and why and everything.
We are getting lost into muddy waters.

You can read what I wrote in previous articles about plagiarism. It is a legal word with a legal definition from the legal world of lawyers, attorneys, judges, cases, courtroom, criminal justice, criminology, and plagiarism can be a term connected to and applied to copyrights and patents on books and finished products and services and everything that is approved and verified with patents or copyrights or whatever that it might be. But we often use the word "PLAGIARISM" beyond or outside of those content and we can or could maybe do that but it is also pretty dangerous and maybe illegal or immoral or dumb or not fair to maybe REDEFINE the word PLAGIARISM and we can talk about why REDEFINING PLAGIARISM can be bad and maybe I will tell you more about that later if you do not already know. Maybe I already wrote about it already in previous posts and comments. I want to say more and I want people to understand stealing is bad. BUT I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT THAT. I AGREE THAT STEALING IS BAD..... but what is our compass in defining morality and ownership and theft and are thinks objective or subjective? I am talking about philosophy and stuff................

Therefore, internet articles, videos, blog posts, photographs, drawings, ANY ORIGINAL CREATION AT THE TIME OF CREATION belongs to the creator.
Because the creator owns the content and has the exclusive right to copy and distribute the content, the absolute MINIMUM requirement for its reuse is attribution (even under the “Fair use doctrine”)
The only exception to this is works attributed by the creator (or copyright holder) to the public domain, or works which have outlived their copyright protection.
These rules apply in the US to US citizens, however many countries have similar copyright restrictions.
Plagiarism is defined as “The practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own.” -Oxford English Dictionary
Therefore a work without attribution is not necessarily plagiarism, as the intent to pass it as one’s own must be present to fit that definition. Nonetheless, use of the work without permission or attribution IS copyright infringement, and should not be tolerated on any forum.
@timeshiftarts, Good. Agreed. I don't disagree with laws. My arguments from my posts is about something deeper than that. It is important to get to the foundation of it all.

What happens when you start going after some robbers who turn out to not be robbers? We are going down a rabbit hole that can be very dangerous in the determination of what is considered to be your stuff or not. You quoted from law. I understand those laws. I see that. People can see that. But the issues go way beyond that. The debate goes way beyond that.
On a typical forum that would be up to moderator. On Steemit, we kind of use our best judgement.
In my case, I flag if I personally know the source of the material and I can tell that it's copied or stolen. I comment about mentioning sources or getting permission if it just looks suspicious but I don't know who owns the content.
Personally, I cite my sources whenever I use content that isn't created by me and usually try to produce original content or present content in an original way. (This is a "best practice" approach)
The only one I would "go after" is someone who steals MY content without permission. If I created it, I know I created it, and unless you got my permission to use it you shouldn't be getting paid for it.
@timeshiftarts, good, agreed, thanks.... forums tend to have moderators... groups on Facebook have administrators..... but they also have the ability to flag comments and posts on most networks

My biggest concern is about honesty and transparency and integrity. When I go to Steem or Facebook or another social network, I want to know the rules

I do not like if a website says you can do and say anything but then they come back the next day and say, "EXCEPT THAT.." or except this or this other thing or another thing and so on and so forth and that happens too much on Facebook and YouTube and Twitter and the details can be debated and everything but it is also very misleading when they let left liberal people do whatever they want on their sites while the right is treated in a different way and are deleted and downvoted and unliked and banned and removed and all that jazz

If Steemit or other sites wants to punish Republicans or anybody they do not like, then they can do that. But please tell me first. I want the websites to be honest about it first before they do it. And I do not like if a website says they will never do that but then they do that

I am not saying that Steem is bad or unfair or whatever. I am not really sure but I think Steem is pretty good. But based on my experience online the past 20 years, I have seen dishonesty and stuff. I want to know what is expected ahead of time. Websites have the right to censor and filter as much as they want. But I do not like if they say they never censor but then they go out and censor and everything like too much.

I do not like if people were to steal my stuff. Plagiarism can be a problem too. Stealing is bad. I do not like it. But how do you stop that or what should you do to stop people from robbing? That is a debate and it is tough to talk about. Sometimes, we think something was plagiarized and sometimes we can be wrong. It is not always a simple thing to master
As far as the "rules" of Steemit posts, you own the community post whatever you like. Fortunately (or unfortunately) everyone else owns the community too so they (and you) can "flag" (downvote) anything they don't like. It isn't because you "broke the rules" it's because that user said your post bothered them.
Even though it is a completely uncensored forum, there are various laws and etiquette that should be adhered to;
If it's not appropriate to be viewed by people 13-17 (20 in some jurisdictions) mark it "nsfw"
If it's not your content, don't steal it or try to take credit for it
Don't "abuse" flags because you don't like something (this is partially resolved by a downvote having the same "cost" in energy as an upvote)
Don't post content that violates international laws and standards (child pornography, graphic abuse, credible threats, harassment)
People do abuse flags. That is a big problem. By the way, what is international law? Is there a one world government that enforces the NWO? Are people or the United Nation or NAFTA or others actively enforcing international laws? Will they go to random islands and random countries to get people who break the laws in Africa or Asia or only in some countries?
"international" laws are laws that are agreed upon by member nations of the international governments like the EU and UN.
The enforcements of these laws is up to each individual country (which is why you can buy Disney movies in Russia for $0.30 without paying Disney but have to pay copyright fees here).
They are more a set of "recommended standards of decent human behavior" than "laws"
Did the people of the countries of Europe vote to join the European Union (EU) in the first place and do they really vote and agree that they should have over 10 million refugees moved into Europe while Saudi Arabia takes in nobody?

Everyday, things happen in Europe. I wonder if they all agreed upon those things that are happening each day now.
