Getting My Voting Slider - 2 Months On Steemit: Vests & Voting On The Blockchain
Late last night I finally got my Steemit voting slider! =)
It took me 57 days to achieve this on Steemit and was one of the first goals I set myself. However I was a little confused about how this was to be achieved so I did some research on this topic. Perhaps I can be of assistance to some new Steemians who have the same question!
The Slider!
When you begin on Steemit your vote can only be made with 100% voting power. This is reasonable as initially your Steemit vote is only worth a few cents.
One of the first posts I came across in my research discussed a technique to change code to get a slider before you are officially given it. It appears that not only is this against the 'terms and conditions' but also can cause errors on the blockchain so I will not repost it here!
A slider is officially added to your voting options when you achieve 1 Million Vests. You can check how many vests you have by checking: www.steemd.com/@yoursteemitname. Just replace 'yoursteemitname' with your name.
Vests
What are Vests on Steemit? Obviously vests are a stylish traditional garment and I personally enjoy wearing pinstripe suit vests with jeans . Sadly that didn't help me get a Steemit voting slider any sooner!
Briefly vests are the equity you have in Steemit - similar to buying stock (equity) in a company. They are represented by the Steem Power shown in your account.
To get your slider today you need 487 Steem Power!
You can either buy this power or earn it through your posts and curation.

This is the first of my Steemit goals but I have a few more I wish to achieve:
- 500 followers
- 1000 followers
- Achieve a rating of 60

487 ?! I have like 10 now :'DD I should be wayyy more active, I've been lazy.. But summer is so short in here, gotta enjoy it ! I have to wait 9 months till next summer so I have plenty of time to write some posts then haha :D
