Rug Crafters Kit and Large Knitting MachinesteemCreated with Sketch.

in #needleworkmonday7 years ago (edited)

Today is Christmas Eve and I have been as busy as a hard working bee this morning. I have been cooking and baking and taking care of responsibilities that require me to move around. I realized that I had not posted today so I ran upstairs to see what I might have that would be of interest to the needlework community. There was no point in re-posting the same projects that I have yet to complete, so I decided to share some more equipment from my stash.

When I was working full time and collecting craft equipment so that I would have something to do at home, I was surprised to find this whole kit stuck back in the closet in my craft room which is currently being used by my granddaughter over the holidays.

I recently bought a punch needle so that I could use it with the needle punch frame that I also recently purchased. I had forgotten about this large frame that can be used to make huge rugs.

I know by now you must be thinking, "How can anyone use that much stuff in a lifetime?" I was trying to be prepared for my retirement from education. I wanted to have my own business doing things that I would do for free and then selling what I made. I never did complete that business plan because it was too hard for me to sell things that I made. Instead, I ended up giving them away as gifts.

I also found this full scale knitting machine way in the back of the closet. It was pretty dusty, but I took a picture of it anyway. (Ignore the dust.) I looked up both items on Google, Etsy and Ebay and my equipment is considered "vintage". That's the new name for old.

I would love to find the time to see if I can remember how to use this machine. It has to be clamped to a table before it can operate. The main body of the machine has a gazillion needles.

These needles can be used to make very large items that would normally take me forever to knit.

I put all of my old stuff back in the closet for now. I have to get back to my kitchen because the timer is going off on my stove. I am roasting a duck for dinner. That will be part of a future post.

I wish you a joyful Christmas and a peaceful day. Share some love with those that are less fortunate than you. You'll make the world a better place.

Your vintage knitting machine looks so cool. I remember when @cryptocariad was sharing about her knitting machine with us. It looks like you have a lot of things in storage that you’ll be getting into sooner or later. I look forward to seeing all that you decide to make! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing those interesting tools. I am putting down my needlework for a bit to clean, then bake.

O: I'm so jealous of you having a knitting machine. That's so cool!
Happy holidays!!

I’m excited about it now that I’ve picked up my knitting again after all of these years. I hope that I can actually complete a project with the extra speed. Enjoy your holidays as well.

OMG, we could have been twins:

"How can anyone use that much stuff in a lifetime?" I was trying to be prepared for my retirement
and this is so me:
because it was too hard for me to sell things that I made. Instead, I ended up giving them away as gifts

so, I definitely feel you!

I grew up with my Mum having a knitting machine, I can still remember the "whiz, whiz, whiz" sound it made as she ran the handle back and forth.

... and duck was often on our Christmas table while growing up.

Thank you for the memories with this post.

Wishing you a happy holiday season.
