Charcoal Drawing Quick Sketch

I took one art class when I was an undergraduate in college. It was a fundamentals of drawing class. I took it as an elective thinking that it would be an easy grade. I was wrong. I had to spend three hours per night working on my drawing assignments.

During class we had to do a lot of “quick sketches” that took five minutes or less to draw. Since I am away from my charcoal drawing class this week, I decided to do a quick sketch with charcoal. I brought my small sketchpad and a few charcoal pencils with me on this trip.

I usually have a photo reference in my class, but I just looked up a charcoal drawing on my cell phone to use so that I could practice.

The picture looks fairly simple, so I thought that I would be able to draw it quickly. A quick sketch still takes a lot of skill when you are not used to doing it.
I may actually be wrong, because we never did quick sketches with charcoal. They were all done with a regular pencil.

In any regard, this is my product that I thought that I would share.
