STEEMIT: The Recent Security Glitch on Steemit Aroses my Concerning on How to backup your Keys..
Many of us have heard about the recent DDos attack on the steemit platform. The DDos attrack brought down the websites for several days ago, resulting to many not be able to have access to the websites. but with the help of Steemit Teams the website was back online.
The owner key is the master key for the account and is required to change the other keys. The private key or password for the owner key should be kept offline as much as possible.
The DDOS ATTACK Glitch is a Sound notice to Everyone on Steemit.
With the DDOs attack on the Website, this has Alert Every Users on the Steemit Social media that it's no more Safe Play around with your Masters' Key on related steemit Website.
- Always Make sure to BackUp your Important things on a External drive.
The drive serves as a Backup device where your important data stored offline. such as Passwords, Pictures, documents and more.
With recent changes that were applied to Steemit.com. The website has been getting requests on the order of a hundred thousand per second from someone using a botnet spanning targeting users on steemit.
Always make use of the "Generated Password" Tab. Whenever you feels your password is being compromized.
These are the set-up rules of Steemit about the use of your Password.
The first rule of Steemit is: Do not lose your password.
The second rule of Steemit is: Do not lose your password.
The third rule of Steemit is: We cannot recover your password.
The fourth rule: If you can remember the password, it's not secure.
The fifth rule: Use only randomly-generated passwords.
The sixth rule: Do not tell anyone your password.
The seventh rule: Always back up your password.
- You can have Your Password Printed on a Paper and kept in a Save place.
- Don't have your Master key (Owner) log-in on New website that claims it's uses STEEM Blockchain.

Thank you for that information - do you really think it is necessary to generate a new password after DDos ? Seems like they not conquered the server just brought it to collapse because of the many requests...

Very educative post, @jephline. What I use to back up my keys is protonmail. It's a highly encrypted email based in Swizerland. If you lose your pass to your protonmail account, you've practically lost all your information therein, since it cannot be recovered. Moreover, I think a combination of protonmail and an external hard drive to store my keys would be a near perfect solution, especially in these days of DDos attack. Cheers.
