Good afternoon folks! Today I would like to begin a new little mini-series where I try different fruits and give them reviews. I usually post beer reviews for @detlev's weekly contest, or restaurant reviews for the @steemfoodtours contest, but it's time to get a little healthy over here on the STEEM blockchain. Today we will begin with a Yellow Dragonfruit.
I recently met a fine young lady living in Moscow, and she encouraged me to try the dragonfruit. She is a raw vegan that lives on a diet of uncooked fruits and vegetables (pretty wild). Dragonfruits, otherwise known as Pitaya, are tropical fruits from a cactus plant. They come in several varieties, most commonly with a pink outer layer. These Yellow Dragonfruit are more uncommon, but I've been finding them at my local grocery store.
The outer layer has a fleshy leather texture. When you want to eat a dragonfruit, you slice it in half, long ways, as you can see below. The inside contains a nice juicy fruit filled with black seeds. The seeds are edible and provide a nice crunch when eating.
Once you open the dragonfruit, you can use a spoon to scoop out pieces, as seen in the photo below. It has a delicious and refreshing tropical flavor and quickly has become one of my favorite fruits. The overall flavor varies depending on the dragonfruit variety. Although exotic fruits can be quite expensive, they are a tasty and healthy treat.
Overall, I really enjoyed this yellow dragonfruit. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to make a mini-series on STEEM because of it. There will be more fruits to come... but I highly recommend you buy yourself some dragonfruit! Not only is it delicious, it's named after dragons.

They are the most awesome looking fruits I know. I tried the pink ones last year, and I thought it was delicious. I didn't know they came in other colors too

I think they are such a cool looking fruit I had to try them when I saw them in Singapore I think it was years ago and I to quite liked them and had them a few times
I've only tried this recently myself... although mine was red on the outside! I wonder if there is a different taste? The inside looks the same anyway...
I hear they are different but I have not tried... I will review a red one someday!
