Walk the Moon. What if Nothing. Vinyl.
This past weekend I was lucky enough to catchable live show by Walk the Moon. I liked the band before, but after seeing them live I’m definitely a fan. Their live set was very polished, and full of energy. After the show I decided to pick up a copy of their latest album, What if Nothing, on vinyl at the merch table.
The album was released in October of 2017, and is comprised of 13 tracks that make up about 56 minutes of music. This is the 4th full length album released by Walk the Moon.
The album is split between two discs, one in a smoked translucent purple, and the other in an opaque white. The records have a nice heavy feel, and they look absolutely beautiful. I would’ve liked to see more work put into the appearance of the liner notes, but overall the presentation is still very nice.
The music itself is very well done. If you like poppy synth-rock, I’d be willing to bet you’ll love this album. Chances are you’ve already heard the singles “One Foot,” and “Kamikazee,” on the radio. But I don’t feel like there is a single song on this album I find myself wanting to skip, which is pretty important when listening to vinyl. The song “Headphones,” has an almost punk vibe to it, with the line “I can take a beating like a good pair of headphones,” and heavy drumming coupled with an overdriven guitar riff.
I listened to this album four times today while cleaning my house, and I can see myself listening to it a lot in the future. Give it a listen, and let me know what you think in the comments!
