Magnificent Creatures - Creative Fun!

A little while ago, I bought my son Jude an adult colouring book with the theme "Magnificent Creatures". Being an artist of sorts myself, one of the things Jude has plenty of, is pencil crayons, koki's etc. but I got him a few extra sets of fine highlighters to add to his collection, as I think they truly transform these creative pieces into such beautifully vibrant masterpieces.

I love to paint, but it is definitely not my strength. I have always most enjoyed working with pencil crayons and pen... It took quite a bit of time to convince Jude that the capabilities of a pencil crayon (especially at his age - 9) FAR surpass that of a simple koki - which most kids repeat movement until breaking the paper. haha!

We have done many pieces in this book together, and they are all beautiful in their own right - but it was only with the persistent effort of our magnificent wolf that he finally SAW for himself, not only the magic of a pencil crayon when used effectively - but the rewards of patience!

Combined with the koki's and the highlighters - the finished product really blew his mind! This is not something we do every day, but rather "every so often" - but when we do, I will say this... it is enormously therapeutic for BOTH of us. It is a very special quiet time for the both of us, and simultaneously inspires wonderfully natural conversation between the two of us too... which is time EXCEPTIONALLY well spent together!

I know that it can be said without question that we both LOVE partaking in this activity together and I really think (if they are not doing it already) that it is something that more "parents and children" should give a try. It may seem a somewhat "silly" activity to an adult, but I can promise you - it is not! In fact, I would go as far as to say that it is probably even more therapeutically beneficial to the adult than it is to the child. lol - TRUE STORY!

Consider a form of meditation... because that is precisely what it is!

Here are some of the other awesome complete and incomplete pieces that Jude has done...

@jaynie,

Jaynie, you're a good Mom.

All of the pictures are wonderful but that first one ... that's incredible. I love it.

As I learnt from raising my own daughter, there's NOTHING that has a bigger impact upon a child's development than time spent with a parent. You cannot override that which Nature instills. While you may not yet understand why, the impact of your involvement will echo loudly for the rest of his life.

And your son, like my daughter, will know with absolute certainty from whence the different aspects of his personality originates. At some point, children begin to self-reflect, and when they do, it can blow you away.

I wouldn't trade it for a million Lambos.

Never were truer words spoken!

Beautiful!!! Your sons got some coloring skills :-). You might like this site Jaynie: ravenectar.com. Artists make colorful pieces like these and print them on shirts, tapestries, blankets, and yoga matts. They are expensive but worth it giving you the coolest psychedelic shirts around.

Oh awesome thanks!!! Will check it out :)

That's just lovely :) great colouring and a smashing way to relax plus spend time together. My missus and kids also enjoy this type of colour work, something about it is really enjoyable and differs from creating artwork from scratch. Which they both enjoy also :-)
Oh and Super colouring Jude :)

hehe thanks @niko3d I will be sure to tell him :)

Hello @jaynie, nice to meet you. this is my first time visiting your blog.
Therefore, introduce me @aulia1993 from Indonesia. You have bought a painting book for Jude.
and in my opinion the image colored by Jude is really very good. I like the picture you show.

Thank you :)

howdy there Jaynie! these are simply amazing, I can see why they blew his mind, what fun!

yeah it is loads of fun :)

These are incredible. And it's this type of talent that makes me covet a person's artistry. If it wasn't for all the thou shalt nots written long ago in an ancient Holy book, I'd steal that artistry. Unfortunately, I have scruples so I simply admire it. Beautiful images!

hahaha!!! Good call @blockurator ;) Thank you :)

Awesome art.

Rather eclectic.

The first image made me think of a fellow Steemian (and good online friend) @wolfhart.

Happy Wednesday and cryptomarketcap uptrend!

Already >11% portfolio gains in the last three days; but not ready to do the happy dance yet...

Namaste, JaiChai

Awesome!!! And thanks @jaichai :)

So lovely colors, you are good mother, love your little son, very good work by him. lovely. ❤

Thank you sweetie!

Heh, you also do these! MY daughter loves these "adult" colouring books (hmmmm... adult colouring, sounds wrong... especially to be giving to little kids...). Anyway, she really enjoys the complexity and the patterns that are much more engaging than the stuff that is marketed to kids.

hahahahahaha!!!!!! Yes it does sound kinda "odd" doesn't it lol!!! And yes I agree... the stuff for kids is really rubbish mostly.

These pages are great. The artist coloring has a real eye for color popping out and taking the fantasy that is coloring to the next level. Great job, look forward to more.
