I had to look this thing up to even find out that it was for ice water!! The latest date on it is 1872!! It's made by Reed & Barton and is silver plated and has a porcelain lining works like a thermos to keep the water cold and prevents condensation of moisture on the outside of the pitcher! Pretty clever!!

As you can see it has a nice patina on the outside and the bottom and the inside of the lid are still super shiny!

What do you think it's worth and should I shine it up or leave it like it is? I think it looks cool the way it is!!

What is Wide Open Daily you ask?

Well..... I've grown tired of trying to come up with something new for the weekly #colorchallenge and many of the other photography prompts I have used here on Steemit over the last year and decided it's time to just do my own thing!

Sooooo....I'm going to challenge myself to take at least one new photo everyday with my Sigma Art 50mm wide open at f/1.4!! I freeking love this lens and the super narrow depth of field it creates when used wide open!

Thanks for checkin' it out!!

Amazing detail on it!!

Soooo awesome!!! Thank you!!

Nice work! Congrats on the "Daily Spotlight" selection. One of your prior postings inspired me to switch my camera setting to Av and keep it wide open as well...except with my usual lens that's f/4.0 at best. BTW, don't polish that pitcher up. It's beautiful as is.

The detail on that is amazing what a cool piece and awesome shots tip!

I know right!! Thank you!!

I know you’re my husband and I’m sitting right next to you, but this is just too cool and I have to resteem!

Don't destroy the patina! I don't really know, but you could probably figure it out from watching a few episodes of "Antiques Roadshow." Nice detail photography of it! That looks like a pretty fancy one, with the face sculptural element. Is it supposed to be anyone in particular?

I've looked a few up online but i haven't seen one quite like this one!

Congrats on the spotlight! Super shots!

My pleasure! Well deserved!

Looks fantastic and in great condition for it's age. The detail and craftsmanship that has gone into it is superb. Today some machine would most likely do it. Nice piece to photograph. Thanks Jason.
