DEVILS KITCHEN - Canyonlands Needles District

It's a heck of a drive (or hike) to get to but certainly worth the view... and the sunrise didn't disappoint. I always already awake since 3am doing milky way pictures but my buddy Parker fell back asleep in the car.... 3am is tough. haha

SUNRISE COLORS

  • The picture above was the beginning panorama picture of sunrise.
  • The picture below was the final panorama picture of sunrise.

I actually cooled down this second image WB temperature because it was so warm. I like the blues and softer pinks of the first one but not sure which one you all prefer?

PANORAMAS
These are both large panoramas taken with the Nikon D850
The first one is 100MP the second is 263MP

Stunning place and great photography. I'm very impressed, probably the first time I see this place. A shame it's in USA though.

Great shot. Unfortunate I missed this place on my last visit. Have you been at the "Hole in the rock road" at the Grand Staircase Escalante?

I have done a couple trips down that way but this year I need to make it all the way to the end of the Hold in the Rock road!

We've just been at the Peek-A-Boo Canyon. But it was really impressive and we've just met 3 people the hole day. If you like the Anthelope Canyon you will definitely love this one, it's so much better! So much more to explore at this road.

In a few days we will post about our east to west coast USA roadtrip. Would be happy if you check it out ;)

Damn man! That detail from the D850 is insane haha... I'm just checking out the full picture now and its really insane what that camera does with all those megapixels. Out of interest, what was the size of the RAW files for these pictures? must have been pretty huge haha

Haha fun question the second one is a 791MB DNG file.

Wow man, thats bigger than most full length movie files haha! Your storage situation must be pretty intense :) thanks for answering my question!

wow great post. enjoy travel happy holi day. thanks for sharing.

I have been through Needles a few times and its mega hot! Don't they have that massive village thermometer?

I haven't seen it if they do... where would it be located? There's not anyone living there besides campers and rangers.

I got it wrong the thermometer is in Baker, sorry, but I have been through Needles haha

some beautiful panos!

wow nice post......please nest same catacory post upload

Impressive panos!! I like the second one more, wider field of view and a more matched contrast of colours. HUGE resolution, which I love - I need to start doing some high res panoramas like this! <3

Yeah that second one was a two row pano. One day I'll find some people who want to print them massively large... until then I'm still having fun taking them.
