howdy today sir Glen! hahaha, that last sentence about being thrown in jail is funny but not funnyu at the same time! No there wasn't any hard evidence of jury rigging and I don't think it would have been needed because it was a clear case of self defense like you said, no matter who won.
There were newspaper articles written in favor of both sides though, one claiming that Wild Bill was a saint and the other claiming Tutt was a saint. The researcher said the town was divided, split down the middle because Wild Bill was respected but had alot of enemies because the town itself was split on the issue of slavery. It was noted that Tutt was a confederate soldier and his friends were pro-slavery. So..just one more reason for the feud between the two men.

One thing for sure is that Tutt was overconfident given Wild Bill's reputation.
