Yesterday's mystery solved!
I posted a mystery project work-in-progress yesterday evening. No one was even close to guessing the final result. It's a hastily-constructed cosplay prop for a friend attending Coeur d'Con!
This giant hammer is named "Gideon," and it's from an anime series I have never seen. The construction quality leaves a bit to be desired, because my skills and the materials available are inadequate, but it'll do for now. Especially after a coat of paint.
For scale, it's about 6 feet (1.8-ish meters) in height, and the individual wielding it is around 5'-4", so it is quite imposing. It actually turned out better than expected, so I'll take that result and call it good enough for now!
Very nice job!
Thanks!
Very nifty! My guess was indeed not even close lol. I admittedly would have never guessed that was the end result. The picture does not do it justice from the size you decribe it as, but it looks good, and I think you did a great job!
There's a picture of it in this post by @generikat!
Nice! It looks like it could do some serious damage lol! :) It reminds me of a warhammer from the game Skyrim.
That is one impressive hammer!
So I was really close, then.
Strap explosives on it and you have an Orky tankhammer.
I want one...
The easy parts: buying a couple sheets of foamcore, a couple sheets of poster board, and a can of spray paint. Painting the final product.
The hard part: laying out the pieces, cutting them out of the sheets, assembling them, and taping the edges before painting.
Those dag-gum details always get in the way.
I thought about offering to make you a similar absurdly oversized hammer, but then I thought about how much work it would be, and in the end I would be demanding at least 100 Steem for a flimsy costume piece to make it worth my while to repeat it.
Plus the mailperson would have a time of it...those little white trucks are pretty short. Let alone when they see a HUGE hammer in the X-Ray Mailmachine. So probably better to forgo the project ( :
