Legitimate flags vs. illegitimate flags
It has recently been brought to my attention that the NSFW posts are infested with plagiarists who not only fail to provide any attribution, but also belligerently attack anyone who requests such attribution.While Steemit is designed to be censorship-free, the flags give us the chance to send a market signal to those who abuse the platform and deny them the unjust rewards they seek.
I am not a fan of the "intellectual property" concept, but failure to offer attribution, or claiming someone else's work as your own, is a violation of the ethical principles I support. Beyond that, the use of threats and insults is simply uncivilized and should not be rewarded.

Lest anyone think I am being thin-skinned here, feel free to check out @el-mago's comment history and you can see that this user has been consistently belligerent and abusive toward anyone who confronts his/her/its behavior. It's time to rally to upvote anything flagged by this user, @steemshitlist, and anyone else using flags to attack honest users, and flag those posting spam and plagiarized content. It is up to us to maintain the community integrity.
Flags on this post are probably a good indication of who is abusing the system, so this might serve as an excellent test case to find the flag abusers, too!
Thanks for sticking your neck out to fight against this kind of behavior on Steemit. I'm often scared to step in unless it's a very flagrant abuse, since it's so easy to pick a fight with the wrong person and get hit with HEAVY flags.

How miserable must your life be to get to the point where you start flagging someone just because you hate them... At some point, even yesterday, this guy had around 50 reputation and coud've seriously damaged @o0pepper0o and other accounts.
He completely screwed himself by being so open about what he is doing, so crisis averted this time, but there definitely is a possibility for smarter people to flag abusively in silence. Worse, a whole group of people could downvote someone to oblivion; vote brigading on reddit is definitely a reality, despite the admins efforts to reduce it, so it will surely happen on steemit, if it hasn't already.
Tools like steemnow.com can help you track the votes on an account and who made them. This allowed me to identify both his account and the @steemshitlist so that the whale/witness accounts associated with the Minnow Support Project to counter the damage and begin flagging his account into oblivion.
Use this tool any time you have posts start being flagged heavily. You will find out who quickly and easily.

Here is @coinbitgold accusing the anti-vaxxers of collectively flagging his post "Vaccination (immunization) Can Save Lifes". You can check the post for itself https://steemit.com/medicine/@nelu.ceban/vaccination-immunization-can-save-lifes. The post doesn't violate any of the communities guidelines and yet it has been downvoted to the point where it is hidden due to low ratings. Given that the flaggers are whales, literally no one can do anything about it, even though it basicallly is censorship.
@steemshitlist was apparently created as a flag griefing account that never comments, and thus never risks response.
I didn't flag anybody because I hate them. I am fighting back against hypocrites that are abusing the flagging system themselves. They've had over a year as a head start, they'll be sorry eventually.

yep hes attacked me too pretty heavily now. He downvotes all my posts because I let him know that his posts needed to be sourced..he was rude and essentially told me to fuck off so I told steemcleaners who gave him warnings...which he ignored. he is now going around bragging about his might and downvoting anyone who disagrees. its insanity...>>

His actions and words are public record on the blockchain. Despite his self-righteous indignation, any independent outside observer can see what really happened and who is at fault.

I am rich actually. I make quite a fair amount of money. None of it has to do with steemit. I was testing some things out with posting on steemit. Now I'm testing out how I will fight back against you hypocritical turds.

The steemit community needs to pull together to make it a better place for all. If we can't govern ourselves effectively, some government will try it do it for us. I am all about freedom however steeling is just steeling. It almost looks like this user might be hopping from one account to another?

I too am still on his list even now. Unfortunately for him, I have the backing of the Minnow Support Project and the whales/witness' behind it. He no longer gets any rewards either, and now just serves to make himself look silly.
I support the idea of helping people downvoted by these accounts by upvoting them back up to normal levels.
Once I am back home at my desktop computer, I will be better able to manually curate to counter flag griefing.
You don't have to worry too much about my personal posts/comments just to counter the flags. I have the support I need there. But definitely help anyone else you can.
