Hello, everyone. For my achievement 2, I will be discussing the basic security keys on Steemit.

What Are These Security Keys?

Security keys on this platform are made up of alphabets and letters, which all together will give you access to one thing on the other. On Steemit, there are different keys which are used for different purposes. This makes you understand the importance of these keys.

How To Secure Your Steemit Account With Your Security Keys

The most important thing to do is to save your master key and put it in a place you can always get it when needed. Aside from saving your master key, make sure you know the right key to use for anything that requires a key.

In order to understand and know which key is meant to log in, which is used to post, and which is used to change a password, let us get to know the keys that exist on Steemit.

What Are The Security Keys That Exist On Steemit?

On Steemit, there are four keys which are used for different purposes. The four keys are as follows:

Posting key
Active key
Owner key
Master key

Steemit Security Key Types and Their Functions

Since you have been introduced to the security keys you need to know, the next step is to understand the functions of these keys.

Posting key

The posting keys are used to log into the app, and social-related activities are done if you use the posting key. Use this key for social activities such as posting and voting on other people's content. You can also follow and make comments using this key.

Active key

The active key is a key that is used for financial-related issues on the platform. With your active key, you can access your personal wallet, you can power up, and that will help turn on the steems. You can also turn your DVDs into Steems and rewards earned from the platform can be gotten or accessed with the active key.

Owner Key

The owner is used to changing any of the keys on the platform when one sees the need for a change or update. The owner's permission is required to change any of the keys except the master key.

Memo Key

When one needs to transfer funds on this platform, this key (Memo key) will be needed because it is used for the encryption and decryption of memos.
Master Key

The master key is the most important of all keys, and this key is the master of all keys. Having the master key gives you access to all the other keys. The master key is the first key you get upon signing up on Steemit.

How To Transfer To Another Steemit Account

If you want to transfer to another Steemit account, you start with opening the account monedor. In order to do this, it is mandatory you register the active key first.

After this, you have to add up the balance of steem and or SBD you have, then click on the options you have, and you go for transfer. After clicking transfer, a box will turn up, and you will have to put in the name of the user you are transferring to and the amount of Steems or SBD to be transferred.

How To Power Up Steem

In order to power up steem or power on steem, you go to the steem balance, Then click to make the options appear, while for powering up or on, you click on the power up option, then a box will show where to put in the number of steem you want to power up.
