A couple of years ago, I became vegan for ethical reasons. Back then I had no clue about the effects of nutrition on our health. The more I read about the topic, the more I became aware of how much of our wellbeing lies in our own hands. It fascinated me and I got more and more into the topic.

One day I read about our largest organ -the skin- and that we should feed it healthy food too. So many of us are not aware that our skin absorbs what we feed it with. For sure I wasn’t aware. When I started checking the ingredient lists of my cosmetics I was shocked. I was feeding my skin with toxins every day. I’ve read several studies about the negative effect of aluminium on our brains and I decided to avoid it.

But that was not so easy: Almost every ordinary deodorant contains some sort of aluminium. The organic alu-free brands I’ve tried were not really doing the job, plus they were super expensive.

So I decided to just do it myself. I’ve tried many different recipes, until I came up with this simple formula. It is very effective (at least on me and my skin) and super inexpensive.

What are you feeding your skin with?

If you’re looking for healthier alternatives, you should give this recipe a try 💚

Prep time: 20 min
Portions: 1 glass

Ingredients

  • 100 ml of water
  • 2 tsp of food starch
  • 2 tsp of baking soda
  • 10 drops of a skin-friendly essential oil like tea tree oil

Instructions

  • Bring water to a boil and stir in the food starch.
  • Stir well into a thick creamy consistency. Add some drops of water if needed.
  • Let the cream cool off and add the baking soda. Stir well until dissolved.
*At the end, add the essential oil of your choice and mix one last time.
  • Transfer the cream into a deodorant container

Can’t wait for you to try this formula and let me know in the comments how it worked for you 😊

Wahoo danke schön Sofia. Das ist echt genial. Ich benutze auch nur Kokusöl, Baking Soda oder Himalaya Salz.
Danke :)

Cool!!! Was hat denn das Salz für eine Wirkung? :)

Really need. I've never tried to make my own deodorant.

Well it would be a cool experiment. I'm curious how it will work for you :)

I'd be a bit worried that it wouldn't work of rme.

People say that about a vegetarian/vegan diet too and you know the answer my friend :) ♥
I've found that baking soda is the best deodorant :p

That's very true. I'm not worried about the deodorant side, i'm worried about the antiperspirant

I see, well I hope you'll try and and that it'll work ♥
