When I was a kid, we had a small amusement park (if it could be called so) in our city, and it was possible to walk around whole park in less than an hour. And when I saw Disney land on TV, I thought it seemed like a magic to me.
After years, when I became adult and came to South Korea, everything looked so huge and unusual. I feeled like I am in another world or planet.
At that time I came to Korea for Korean language courses. Our programme included a tour to the Lotte World — Seoul largest amusement park. The park owner is one of the largest companies in Korea Lotte. You may know about that company by newly built tower — Lotte tower.
A park was established in 1989. 6 years later it was listed in Guinness world records book as the world largest indoor park.
A total square of the territory is more than 128,000 sq.meters. And buildings total floor square (if it is called so) is more than 581,000 sq.meters. Lotte spent around 1 billion USD to build a whole park.
Park is never empty, it is always super crowded, especially during the weekends. Sometimes it takes more than 2 hours to ride the attraction due to the long line. Fortunately, some of the attractions have a well-organized reservation system. There are small machines in front of entrance to the attraction, and all you need is just to press a bottom and get your reservation ticket.
Lotte world is a paradise to kids and their parents.
More than 6 millions of people visit park each year. Lotte world is in a list of Must See places of many tourists.
Beside different attractions, there are many different festivals and performances. There is a daily parade which is like a musical show with heroes from different cartoons.
Park is divided into indoor and outdoor zones. Indoor park is called Adventure, and outdoor park is Magic Island.
There are 49 attractions in Lotte World, and 3 of them are roller coasters. The largest one is in outdoor zone. Inside and outside zones are connected with monorail, so everyone can use monorail or just walk.
I have been to the Lotte World several times in different roles. As a tourist, as part of my work… Lotte world is a nice place just to spend time and walk. It is not so necessary to ride attractions. And you will never be hungry there because there are so many different cafes and restaurants inside the park.
There is a ice ring, and entrance to it is separate. And entrance is not free.
Park works 7 days a week. Park is located in Jamsil. Jamsil is like a mini Lotte district. Do you know why? If you are curious, I will tell you about it soon.
