FRUITS AND VEGGIES MONDAY | Is smoothie vegan friendly ?

I sometimes do wonder if those smoothies that I've been enjoying are vegan friendly. Whenever I'm at a cafe, I would either go for a hot cup of tea but if there is smoothie on the menu, then that would be what I would order.

Recently, I found this small cafe that serves vegan smoothies in District One, HCMC. As most of these cafes are located in some small back alley, it isn't easy to find it without some assistance from Mr TripAdvisor.

Thankfully, I had my fellow colleague with me so we could order two of their signature vegan smoothie. Absolutely no regrets because it just taste amazing!

After all, it is good for the body and soul.

Doing some research, I realized it's quite easy to make a smoothie. I might just try to do one at home this weekend.

Recipe

Fruit or any kind ( strawberry, bananas, kiwi, blueberry or mangoes )
Dairy free milk (use Smoothie King brand)
1 tsp chia seeds
3 ice cubes

Combine everything into a blender until smooth
Serve immediately, while chilled and fresh
Balance can be frozen and become ice cream

These are other vegan smoothie I've tried before in the past. Don't they all look delicious ! Unfortunately it doesn't show my best skills in photo-taking since I had to sneak my way around to catch these photos 😉

I'll definitely share more in my next post. Hope you enjoy my photo taken from my Huawei

I love smoothies- especially the green smoothie varieties 😋

😊 That's one of the things I like about smoothies.. It's all about the colors 😁

I personally just like to use frozen fruit and sometimes juice in place of milk, if I want a more fruity smoothie rather than a milky type one. Ice can leave little bits of ice in the smoothie unless you got a powerful blender. Frozen fruit usually blends a lot better.

Frozen fruit ?
I've never thought of using that as an ingredient.
Thanks for the idea, I may just try it myself

Delicious and super healthy.........beautiful colors too 🍓😍🥑

Love thess beautiful smoothies, so tasty first thing in the morning :)

Yes indeed.. and filling too
Can't keep the stomach full, least for a couple of hours
Good way to be on diet, maybe

Oh...so that's how smoothies are made and that's so simple? Time to buy a blender...

Btw now since you mentioned it, I really think if smoothies are vegan-friendly. But see, you don't really need anything meat-related to make a smoothie so maybe it's okay to assume that they are? I don't think they'll be using oil or anything from animal sources...haha.

I thought so too..
But, then if they use actual milk dairy, would it still be vegan friendly ?

Usually no meat in smoothies, but often they do contain milk or whey powder if you're getting them out. They are usually really easy to sub out, though, so it's an easy fix to make them totally vegan. :) Coconut milk or other plant-based milks are a great option to make it creamy, but usually just fruit comes out perfectly delicious on its own!

But what about those straws? Please tell us more about them.

This is @metzli and I am totally and completely NOT joking.

My kids' favorite smoothie is frozen blueberries and frozen mango (no ice) with some pineapple juice in our ninja. MMMMMMMMM delicious, comes out so thick we eat it with a spoon.
