Everest Sunrise

Everest.jpg

A misty sunrise over Mt Everest, also known as Chomolungma or Sagarmatha, towering above at a massive 8,848 metres (29,029 ft). The summit of Mt Everest has less then 33% of the oxygen available at sea level. I hiked up Kala Pattar 5,644.5 m (18,519 ft) in the dark with a head torch three mornings in a row in an attempt to get this shot. At 5500m you have exactly 50% of the Oxygen available at sea level. The highest mountain on earth, Mt Everest is in the Mahalangur Range of the Himalayas and sits on the international border between China (Tibet Autonomous Region) and Nepal. Photo taken on Fuji Velvia slide film.

Thanks for sharing this awesome photo of Mount Everest @intrepidphotos. Hope you had a great time while visiting Everest and Solukhumbu village🙂. Nepal is my motherland🙂

Its a beautiful country. I would love to go back.

This is a beautiful photo.

Great commitment to hike up 5000m 3 days in a row to get this show, it was worth it !!!!!

Thank you. We spent a week sleeping over 5000m on this trek.

Its tough, I've done it a few times myself :-)

Its a great weight loss program lol!

For sure haha. My last expedition when I started I was 90KG, when I came down the mountain I was 75KG.
I didnt stay 75KG for long though :-)

Oh yess - I remember trekking Kala Pattar at 3 in the morning as well. That Himalaya trip was one of the best trips to date, with Island Peak as our main summit (first Kala Pattar, then Everest BC). Great photos like that usually comes with the kind of persistence you describe. Good job!

Thanks ! Its a special part of the world.
