As some of you may have noticed, I haven't been as active on Steemit lately as I used to be. I know, I'm ashamed, too. It's a most unpleasant situation and I admit I've been neglecting you guys.
But I had a solid reason. See, I've been working on my next book for quite a bit now. Actually, I started it right before Steemfest, then took about a month-long break, first to party and then to recover from that (and to write other things) and then, I went on and wrote it and finished it.
And it's a children's book. I know, if you've read some of my darker stuff, you might be a tad surprised. But I also love writing for children, I love the magic that kids let you get away with.

And today, after about a week or so after I finished editing, I sent it to agents. Yes, I have decided to take a more traditional route this time and try and find a literary agent (and then, obviously, publish with a real publishing house). How very exciting, no? I think so, too.

So yeah, I have been neglecting Steem, but I swear it was all for this new book that is going to be for a Middle Grade audience, the 9-12 year olds. And I did miss Steem and I was sorry I couldn't post more, but at the same time, I was really happy that I was doing this, because it's been something I've been dreading and at the same time desperately wanting for quite a bit now. It was the next logical step. While I've heard pros and cons for going the traditional route (as well as for self-publishing), I want to try things for myself. I want to feel what it's like and make my own decisions based on that.

And let me tell you, it felt incredible hitting 'send' on that last email. It's a nerve-wrecking process, there's doubt and worrying and checking over and over and over and when you do make a tiny mistake, you feel like you will be executed for it. It's both exhilarating and terrifying.

And once again, I looked at what I was doing and I realized how this would not be possible without Steemit, you know? And without you five or ten people who regularly read my blog. I've gotten a lot of encouragement on here from great people (and great writers, which was a big bonus) and that means the world to me. Because this is one of the scariest parts - the submitting, the throwing your work out into the water and seeing if it swims or drowns. Well, you guys gave me the courage to throw it and that's a lot of courage. So thank you.

I promise to keep you updated about what happens next and hopefully about where you can find my new book :)

And yes, this one is an original. Not one word of it has been on Steem, and I'm proud of that, too.

Thank you for reading (really),

Legit. Effort will always bring reward of some kind: The desired result (a published book for instance) at best, constructive feedback (life lesson) at worst. I'm looking forward to see how you go however just pressing that send button was a win in itself.

Wish you luck with the book and that someone will pick an interest on it - I'm sure it's a good one :)

I'm delighted for you Hon. Best of luck getting an agent but I'm sure you won't need it.

Thank you :) You're one of the great writers I mentioned in my post, so this means a lot.

Best of luck to you on this! Writing for children is a lot more difficult than people think. My very first published book, If I Had Thumbs Like People Do was for children. Please keep us posted and mark me down for a copy when it's done!

Thank you, Eric :) Yes, it really is more difficult. That book sounds real interesting :D Yeah, hope I have something to keep ya updated about!

You're welcome! Once you get your brain tuned to the right frequency to write for children it's so much fun.
