It still need to use the Ethereum private key, so some amount of risk is there. May be a chat application based on steem blockchain would be a better option, because the memo key can be used to encrypt the message, and that will not compromise the security of our private keys, at least the Active or Master key. I wish some steem dev would explore that option, based on this as this is open source.
I like the idea here as secrecy is sometimes best and everyone want s their privacy right? I mean, I feel bad for all those kids sending outrageous texts that will surely come back to haunt them in the future if someone decides to dig deep enough....shame
Hmmmm.... So actually it cant replace the messanger that we know nowdays or lets say they are still faster BUT in my understanding it can be really good for example business porpouse because of the security. Or lets say i think it can replace the emails. Becaise until now still most of the companies useing emails but everybody knows that they can hack it easily. So maybe this will be better option.

When we listened only coin's name but now a days there are multiple item and product launched and innovated in the world. Ether chat is different product that have coded chat and then decoding option those who are chat each other.
