VIOLET EYES

Chapter 1

The Tavern

Moon stirs in her chambers, the evening breeze is cool and steady. The dwindling fire was casting shadows that danced on the stone walls bringing the room to life. Her mate Liam has been gone for a few weeks now. He had gotten news of his brother someplace in the Northern Territory. He seeks vengeance for the traitorous act of sending their own sire to his eternal slumber. Something he can not forgive. How unsettling, for a Vampire to hunt down his own family, his own brother no less.
“I hope his hunt goes well and this matter of his brother settled quick and safe, “ she tells herself.

She sets out her hunting apparel and blades. Readying for her own hunt. It has become like a ritual to her, she putting on her hunting clothes and strapping on her blades. The list of bounties had arrived under her door the previous evening, the most urgent at the top as usual.
“Only a few for tonight but it keeps me in blood and coin," she tells to herself.
She leaves her room, she passes many paintings of nobles who have walked these halls before her. Pushing open the door she disappears into the shadows of the night.

Moons first stop is a location she has begun to frequent a tavern on the edge of the forest. She is going to settle her bar tab. But she is also going to have a look around and watch how things run. the owner is a vampire who has been talking about selling it and getting into the trade business. She has been thinking of purchasing it and turning it. She has been thinking of making into a haven for weary vampires. A place to stop rest, partake of some good quality drink. A place where they can mingle without fear of killing each other. Neutral territory so to speak. She knows this will not be easy as killing and fighting is second nature to her kind, but the idea intrigues her.

As she enters the Tavern all goes silent everyone is watching, trust is hard to come by in these parts. Moon walks up to the bar and asks to speak to the manager. The barkeep motions to the back. Moon opens the door and enters. The owner is an average looking male of heavy build. He looks her up and down.
“you look well mistress Moon,” he tells her.
Moon sets a bag of coin on the counter. “This covers my current tab.” The manager pulls out a ledger and empties the bag on the table to count up the payment.
“I am so sorry,” the manager says in an apologetic manner. “Please have a seat mistress Moon, BARKEEP!” the manager yells.
The barkeep comes from outside the door. ”yes sir?”
“Bring mistress Moon the best ale we have and mix it with our finest and freshest blood,” the manager told him.
“Yes sir right away” the barkeep replied.

A few moments later the barkeep comes back in with a cup of drink for Moon.
“here you go mistress, the best in the pub,” he tells her.
“thank you” she replies. Moon sips her drink as she waits for the manager to finish counting the payment.
“Thank you, it‘s good,” the manager tells her.
Moon picks up the purse and ties it to her belt, “Still thinking of selling?”
“Yes, its time to retire from the Tavern business and get into the Trade business” the manager replies. “Are you interested in the Tavern mistress Moon?” he asks her.
"I may be, I am still considering it. I will be back from time to time to see how things go here, then decide” she tells him.
“That sounds wonderful mistress Moon. I will look forward to your visits. It's always a pleasure” he tells her.
“I will see you then, I will be going then” she replies.

As moon walks toward the door she glances around, “what a wild looking bunch” she thinks to herself. She places her hood over her head, she is about to reach the door when someone grabs her hand. She turns to see a rather young looking vampire grinning at her. “keep me company tonight” he says to her.
“not today young one, you couldn’t handle what I have to offer,” she tells him.
Angry, he grabs her cloak and pulls it trying to force her into his grip. In one fell swoop, she swings her blade up from her waist. Slicing the young vampire's hand, sending blood spraying across the floor. He reels in pain and attempts to grab his blade. She pushes him with her elbow and pins him against the wall.
“Listen young one, if you want to live to be an elder you will stop now. I have no time for the likes of you”.
Hearing the commotion the manager comes running. Grabbing the youngster he then hurls him into a chair.
“Bring this young one a drink on the house,” he tells the bartender. The manager slaps the youngster across the back of the head and hands him a rag for his wound.
“you want to die fool? She is a hunter. She is not a common barmaid “ he tells the youngster.
The manager turns to Moon and takes her hand escorting her to the door.
”I am so sorry Mistress. Please overlook this youngster. He is full of drink and it has impaired his judgment.”
“he is lucky he is still but a childe, less he would have sustained more damage. He will learn, or next time he will die,” she said more as a warning than a statement.
Being born an Oracle Moon could sense this young one's future. Seems it is short if he keeps to the path he is on. He will not make it to an elder. Such a pity too, he is such a handsome young one. She has been a little on edge since Liam has been gone and her temper has been on a short fuse. She pulls her hood over her head again and leaves the Tavern back into the night.

Chapter 2

The Kill

Moon has been hunting and has claimed several of the bounties on her list. But something feels off. She feels as if someone is watching her, she can not shake the feeling. Moon finds her next target at a house of ill repute, she waits outside. He is a huge man with a very muscular build.
“hmmm, this one may be a bit tricky. I may need to be a bit seductive in my approach” The incident at the tavern has given her an idea. Moon barrows a slinky dress off the clothesline outside of one the house and puts it on. She stashes a couple blades in a self made leather garter under her dress. She ruffles her hair, rubs her lips to add color and pinches her cheeks. “ok then let's get this party started” she tells to herself.

She approaches the man as he is about to enter the Inn, she strikes up a conversation with him.
“Excuse me do you know where I can get a good drink at this hour and a bit of company?” she asks.
The man turns and she is smiling up at him. Looking her up and down he grins. “Well look at you and I was looking for a bit of company too. Care to join me for a refreshing drink?”
“Do you know of a nice quiet place?” she asked.
“Sure I know of this little place around the corner” he replied.
The two walk down the street and around the corner. The man ran his hand down her backside caressing her. A repulsive feeling comes over her and she wanted to kill him then and there. Judging his size and strength that may not be such a good idea, she must wait for the right moment.

They reach an old inn and register for a room. He orders some blood mixed rum to be sent to the room. the man begins to touch her waist running his hands over her shoulders, sliding the straps of her dress down. Bending down he kisses her shoulders moving to her breasts. Each kiss he plants sends shivers throughout her body. She reaches up touching his face, placing her palm on his cheek. She pushes him back onto the bed in a sitting position. She then leans in and kisses him. The man reaches up placing his hands on her gripping her tightly as his tongue parts her lips probing. Moon breaks from his kiss and pushes him back onto the bed and climbing on top of him, straddling him. She flicks the buttons on his shirt pulling it open running her hands over his chest. He smiles up at her. She bends kissing him then moving down his neck to his chest placing kisses as she moves still lower. groaning the man arcs his back as she kisses his lower abdomen. As she fumbles with his belt he closes his eyes and grins licking his lips in anticipation.

This is the chance she has been waiting for. Pulling a blade from her leather garter and bringing it up, then down toward his chest. He opens his eyes as the blade is coming down managing to deflect it. Moons blade misses its mark. Instinctively he pushes her off of him.
”Lousy assassin bitch!” he shouts. He hits her hard, connecting with the side of her face sending her flying to the floor. “So you want to play like that do you?”
Moon scrambles to her feet blade in hand, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth.
“here kitty.. kitty “ the man says as he stalks her. ”Got some claws on ya don’t ya?” ...he says moving closer.
Moon attempts to slide past him. He catches her pinning her to the floor, one hand on her shoulder the other on her throat, her blade flying from her hand.
“Got cha!” the man shouts. “You want to play rough little kitty that’s ok with me. I like taming wild cats“ he tells her as he bends down and licks her cheek, then kisses her.
She bites his lip.
The man draws back, blood trickles from the bite. “Oh!. this little kitty has got some fangs. I wonder what my little wild cat's blood tastes like?“ the man tells her.
He loosens his grip on her throat and forcefully holds her head to the side. He bends down in an attempt to sink his fangs deep into her neck. She is not giving up yet, she still has a couple of blades in her garter. Managing to pull another blade she thrusts it into his neck sending a spray of blood about the room. The man releases his grip on her as he reaches for the wound on his neck. Moon then takes her last blade from the garter repeatedly stabs his chest.
“DIE ..DIE .. DIE .. you bastard .. DIE” She shouts
The man slumps on top of her. Sinking her fangs deep into his jugular and drinks her fill, blood spurting across her face.
“Can’t waste a meal when you can get it” she tells herself as she gulps the warm red nectar. “AGh Not quality at all ” she groans as she pushes the huge man off her. ”Yup just as tough as you looked. Good luck in your next life. May you not find yourself on my list when that time comes” she says as she gives a last glance in his direction.

She wipes the blood running from her mouth with her hand. Thinking it best to leave the scene, she sneaks unseen out of the Inn to where she had hidden her clothes. She washes the blood off at the well and puts her own clothes back on. “Well that took longer than anticipated and he was one tough bastard," she tells herself.

With her list completed, she made her way back home to the safety of the Villa. She is halfway home when she feels a strange uneasy feeling. She just can’t pinpoint it, but she knows she is being stalked. This has been happening on and off for several days now but she has never sensed them this close before. Moon hides in the shadows and remains perfectly still concealing her presence. Perhaps whoever it is will go on by and she will finally see who it is that has been stalking her.

**Thank you for reading my story I posted this a while back and thought it was time for a recap. I am posting two chapters together for convenience. Please watch for the next two chapters. I would also like to hear your comments on my story

Sort:

I enjoyed the read and I have a little advice.

Rein it in. The story is exciting and you're going along with it. The pace is fast, but I advise you to take control and make the pace as fast as you want it to go, rather than the story making the decisions where pacing is concerned.

Please remind me when you have the next chapter up :)

yes, the pace is fast I think it needs toning down a bit also, I think if I ever get a chance to sit down and truly write it out in detail adding more descriptions and dialog here and there it may be something more people find interesting and possibly worth reading. My writing needs a lot of work and I am trying to learn. I am glad you enjoyed it :)

Great title, will try and grab a proper read later have only skimmed through, but resteemed to pick up again in a bit.

thank you, I hope you enjoy it! ... the violet eyes connection will come out in the story eventually :)

Just read it whilst having my dinner. I really like the energy of it. It kept me interested. You could actually go two ways with this, an action packed short story, or pad it out to make it longer, which may dilute it. I think you have chosen well with the names. I dont do vampire stories, so wouldnt have chosen this to read ordinarily, but I think you do balance the detail well to make it a good read.

thank you, I have a few stories with this character and in time plan to make it all one ongoing story...some are short some are long...I am glad you enjoyed it

I sell a lot of short stories on Amazon. People seem to like them. You have a good storyline. Im bad with grammar, but I use grammarly now,it works a treat in presentation.

I should look into it, just got a new computer that's a help but my double vision and dyslexia still cause me problems..lol

My vision is ook, but I suffer with dyslexia, grammarly is free for the basic version, really helps me
