A Moment of Silence

It was a calm summer day. I came to the beach and set up my tripod so the camera was nearly touching the warm sea water. The idea was to combine multiple exposures from the sunset to the pitch dark all into one shot. Considering that, I had a few hours to relax and think.

We all want something, don't we? We all keep trying to get the things we don't have in order to feel better. It feels like we all keep chasing something we don't have until we die, leaving us empty throughout our life. We don't realize we don't need those things, we just want them. Our needs are beyond our desires which we often fail to see past. While fulfilling our desires we get those short feelings of accomplishment and pleasure but those are all casual, short lasting emotions which can't give us true fulfillment and happiness. We need love. We need true connection; between ourselves, between us and our surroundings. Love is a fundemental emotion, lack of love towards something leads to any possible negative emotion. We need to realize negative feelings don't even exist, they are just the outcome of the lack of positive feelings. It is the same as with coldness; it is a known thing in thermodynamics that coldness is nothing but the lack of heat. We are in control of everything we feel and everything that happens to us. Once we realize that we can start changing ourselves, and by changing ourselves we change everything.

Imagine if every single person realized they have the power to decide what they want, how they feel and what will happen to them. Imagine how different the world would look. How different it would feel. We keep having this mindset that we are unsignificant because we are just a one in 7 billion. But by everybody having that mindset nothing can ever change. Progress becomes static. But if we could, one by one, change our way of thinking, we would live in a much better place.

I'd say this is the summary of what was going through my mind in that few hours. And this is the reason I truly enjoy photography. It allows me to put everything else aside and just stop and reflect for a moment, realize things that are so obvious but are just globally ignored because of our way of life.
