Color Challenge - Green Thursday - Spotty Leaf

I took this photo a few years ago on a hike somewhere in our area. I do not know whether this leaf has parasites, eggs, or a disease. I just know it was awesome-looking. As soon as I found it in my files, I knew I had to share it with you. Hope you enjoy! Stay tuned!

EDIT: I found out what this is. Maple leaf-spot galls, caused by a midge. How interesting!

I took your advice and searched leaf miners. None of what I saw left behind red dots like this. Now I'm determined to find out what caused this. Haha! Thank you, @manorvillemike!
