Moving forward through the Steem Monsters to-do, I thought it would be very beneficial to open up a dialogue with anyone and/or everyone who has auditioned for voice acting so far.

To start, I just want to clear up a few things about what we're doing here in this post.

Firstly, this post has no correlation with the selection process. The team has been hard at work going through the voiceovers and making potential placements, and as much as I'm very happy to help in the troubleshooting process (or anything else they may need), I don't have much weight in the final say. Think of me as the personal trainer, not the coach or the team owner. I'm here to help you sound your best, but I can't guarantee anything past that.

Steem Monsters is an interestingly tricky undertaking (I've barely seen half of it). I know the team wants as much community engagement as possible, which is amazing! So much of this project is spearheaded by flooring Steemian talent. But that also means in our specific case of audio voiceovers, we also need to hit professional level marks to reflect the phenomenal, highly-anticipated product that has been in the making. The tricky part for the audio team is figuring out how we can pull high-end studio quality from individuals who may not have access to recording equipment.

I think this is something I can assist with, and I want to start as soon as possible to ensure we give ourselves plenty of time to prepare.

As I listened to the voiceovers, the voice acting itself blew my mind, and these auditions were so top notch. I was smiling ear to ear the whole time. Now we just have to figure out how to get the 'studio quality' up. There were a select handful of folks who had the quality to match, but others it sounded like were recorded on computer mics, phones, etc. As much as I fully understand not everyone can have a studio in their home, we also can't use distorted, room-y, heavily filtered, or muffled audio in-game. So that's our task now, to find that balance.

What I would love to do in the comments of this post is hold an open forum for the folks who auditioned, to please ask me as many questions as you can possibly think of to improve your sound.

If you are open to it, I am a big advocate of constructive transparency, meaning I will tell you my exact thoughts. You can tell me what equipment you're using, how you recorded it, even drop your audition in for reference to discuss, etc. and in a completely judgement-free setting, we'll work through what needs to happen next.

On top of that, we have a Discord channel for voice actors in the Steem Monsters Discord. I will be making it a point to be checking in there more often moving forward to assist with any possible troubleshooting that may come up. Again, just to clarify, I'm not so involved in the selection process as much as I am here to help you improve your audio. But if you're even relatively serious about voice acting, making videos, podcasts, anything, you can use this information in the future, so feel free to pick my brain!
