Highlights: VeChainThor security audits, EOS dumps their ETH, and of course, some VRPorn news to round out the day.

Launch: Aragon Survey App

The Aragon Project launched their Survey dapp on the Ethereum mainnet, the first of their apps to do so. The app allows holders of Aragon’s proprietary ANT token to vote on issues of interest to them surrounding the future initiatives of the project. The site in its current state appears to be more of a proof-of-concept, but definitely has promise.

RequestNetwork and Shopify have launched Reqify, a payment processing system for Shopify store owners. The processing offers lower fees than traditional credit card transactions and can be accepted anywhere.

Launch: Publica E-Book Store

Publica, the “first book ICO with a big-name author,” has launched its e-book store. Aspiring authors can use the platform to fund their books without needing to sign a publisher by creating a campaign page and a token, which represents a pre-sale of the book.

Status Alpha Release - Mainnet

Announced via its Medium page, the Status mainnet is now available as a test option for developers. Among the other updates: A security upgrade to the Status wallet, Status chat improvements, and dapp store upgrades.

ARK Launches iOS Wallet

ARK has launched a mobile app for iOS, enabling users to send transactions and convert local fiat currencies, among other features. The app can be downloaded from the link above.

Streamlabs Accepting Cryptocurrency Tips

Twitch & YouTube content creators can now accept cryptocurrency tips through popular third-party stream management application Streamlabs. Streamlabs will process payments in BTC, ETH, LTC, and BCash to begin, with plans to support more currencies in the future.

VeChainThor Undergoes Third-Party Security and Code Audits

In preparation for the mainnet launch of VechainThor, VeChain has enlisted testing services from several third-party companies specializing in various aspects of blockchain security. In addition to mobile wallet security testing, the entire mainnet source code is undergoing third-party review. This is a smart move from a promising startup, a trend that we hope to see spread to other blockchains.

Announcement: Binance $1 Billion “Social Impact” Fund

Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has announced it will be launching a $1 billion initiative for blockchain startups related to social welfare. The first funded project will be a Chinese ride-sharing app we reported on earlier this week. Binance is looking to fund 20 different investments, using its proprietary BNB token.

Binance: New Listing (IoTeX) & New Pairs Announced

Trading for BTC and ETH pairings for IoTeX (IOTX) opened on Binance today at 5:00am UTC. Additionally, Binance now supports trading pairs for XRP/BNB, TUSD/USDT, SLM/USDT, and IOTA/USDT.

Binance / EOS Mainnet Swap Update

Following the EOS mainnet swap, Binance announced that the EOS ERC20 token network will freeze on June 2, 2018 at 9:59pm UTC. Binance will reopen EOS deposits until tomorrow at 4:00pm UTC. Full details can be found at the source link above.

EOS Dumps $120 Million Worth of ETH to Bitfinex

The EOS ICO is set to end today, and it seems as though they may have been trying to introduce skepticism about the price of ETH, which it sees as a major competitor. The Ethereum blockchain shows that block.one, the company behind EOS, has drained the EOS crowdsale smart contract just hours before the end of its ICO. If tanking ETH’s price was the goal, it didn’t exactly work – EOS’s price also dipped in the face of some critical security vulnerabilities we reported on this week.

VRPorn.com Now Accepting Litecoin

Two months after Pornhub passed Charlie Lee up on his offer in favor of Verge, VRPorn.com has announced it will accept payments in LTC. It’s the latest move in a series of partnerships that indicates a strong relationship to come (pun emphatically intended) between cryptocurrencies and the adult entertainment industry.

The ColossusXT project published a list of features accompanying the latest code release, including upcoming Atomic Swaps capabilities enabling peer-to-peer trading without an intermediary exchange. They also detailed their proposal for a masternode governance system, by which those deemed to be the “most stable” operators in the network will have votes in a decentralized management structure.

AEON Update Scheduled

AEON, a fork of Monero, has an update scheduled to remain ASIC-resistant. The full update and release notes also incorporate other changes Monero has made to their network. Further details can be found in the Github link above.

BAT Celebrates One-Year Anniversary

The Basic Attention Token (BAT) celebrated the one-year anniversary of its token sale today. In commemoration, they published a list of significant accomplishments and upcoming features and partnerships, including mobile platform compatibility and opt-in ads.

Nordic Semiconductor to Utilize IOTA Data Marketplace

Nordic Semiconductor, in partnership with the Norwegian Science and Technology University (NTNU), will look to integrate the IOTA data marketplace with the Nordic Thingy:52, an environmental sensor kit. Nordic says the use of the IOTA data marketplace will help bring products into the “hands of the developers” while maintaining data integrity for businesses wishing to monetize the collected observations.

World Cup Athlete Launches Own Crypto

Football (soccer, for all our American friends) star James Rodriguez has announced his plan to launch his own cryptocurrency on June 12, 2018, two days prior to the start of the World Cup. The JR10 “Superstar” token will be available exclusively on the mobile app SELFSELL.

Japanese Lawyers Prepare Class-Action Lawsuit Over Forked Coins

A group of Japanese lawyers will seek to file a class-action lawsuit against several of the nation’s cryptocurrency exchanges over hard-forked coins. Exchanges, the lawsuit alleges, have an obligation to grant customers forked coins rather than holding them for themselves and possibly turning them into profit after the fact. The law group is working on contingency – 20% of the forked coins in the case of a win or settlement.

India Rejects Venezuelan Cryptocurrency Offer

India has declined an offer from Venezuela for a 30% discount on crude oil in exchange for making purchases using Petro, the nation’s cryptocurrency. India currently has a ban on all cryptocurrencies, making the proposition a direct violation of the country’s policy.

California Senate Candidate Campaigning on Blockchain

A California Senate candidate claiming “no party” affiliation has offered to utilize a blockchain-secured mobile voting platform to carry out the obligations of political office. Users can propose and vote on legislation and verify/audit votes coming through the system. He will not accept donations and instead intends the platform to fund itself through data analytics and crowdfunding.

TRON: Fix Our Code!

TRON is launching a “bug bounty program” with a potential reward of $10 million to accompany the announcement of its mainnet launch. The program invites the community to discover “potential technical vulnerabilities” and security issues.

Visa Payments Disrupted Across Europe

European customers have been experiencing issues using contactless payments with their Visa debit cards, the BBC reports. Banks across the UK and elsewhere have been advising customers to utilize still-functional ATMs. At the time of this writing, Visa is “working to resolve the issue,” but there may be a transaction backlog. Payments using chips and PIN still appear to be working properly.
